Supporting low-income families to engage with museums: Afternoon Cuppa Session (Wales) Monday 18 November, 2.30-3.30pm Do you want to gain a better understanding of family audiences that are experiencing poverty? About this training This session will explore the barriers faced by families experiencing poverty and help attendees to think about how to support this group in their venues. We will hear from Simon Page, Education Project Manager (Wales) at Child Poverty Action Group about the impact of poverty for families in Wales. Simon will be joined by Sara Fortune, Museum Manager at Preston Park Museum and Grounds, who will share some of their learning from the Poverty Proofing© process at Tees Valley Museums. The session will help delegates to: deepen your understanding of poverty in Wales, gain insight into how poverty can impact a family’s chances of engaging with cultural venues, think about how considerations around poverty can impact on the experiences you provide for families in your museum.
