Pinner

With no audition and no previous choir experience required, Rock Chorus offers you an opportunity to be part of a vibrant, lively community of singers. Every voice counts here at Rock Chorus and you can rock with us too! Rock Chorus was formed in 2009 by acclaimed singer/songwriter Lauren Field. She now has around 300 members across five choirs in Pinner, Dunstable, Berkhamsted, Milton Keynes and Northwood Hills. Rock Chorus rehearse once a week in each location and the choirs come together for concerts and charity performances. Rock Chorus have appeared at The Tring Festival, The Waterside Festival at Milton Keynes, The Pepper Rock Concert in Berkhamsted, the Woburn Oyster Festival and at Strictly Come Hospice in Watford Colosseum in aid of the Watford Peace Hospice, to name but a few. We have also appeared on several TV and radio programmes for the BBC, ITV and Sky 1. For 9 years running we have performed to sell out audiences at the Stantonbury Theatre and The Venue in Milton Keynes raising over £40,000 for the Bletchley Lions Club charities. Our concerts dates just keep on coming and we are in demand across all of our areas throughout the year. We are now a regular fixture at the Ideal Home Christmas Exhibition and this Christmas holiday was a well needed break after an extremely busy term of Christmas performances and our now legendary Rock Chorus Christmas parties! Rock Chorus has recorded two original singles, "This is our Time," written by Lauren Field and Charles Foskett and "A Million Souls" written by Lauren Field, Charles Foskett and Brian Bennett (The Shadows). In April Rock Chorus recorded their new song at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Rock Chorus headlined and produced its own charity concert, headlining a Concert to an audience of 1000, and with guest stars Mungo Jerry, Osibisa, Alvin Stardust, Tight Fit and Voices with Soul, raising £15,000 for the McMillan Cancer Unit at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. As part of our ten year celebration we will be putting on a concert at the Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth. We hope that all members will get involved as Every Voice Counts at Rock Chorus!

Greenwich Peninsula

CLOD ENSEMBLE create provocative, finely crafted performance and participation projects driven by movement and music. For over 25 years, director Suzy Willson and composer Paul Clark have developed a highly original performance language, in collaboration with dancers, actors, musicians, medics, architects and orchestras. Our core team work from our studios in the Design District on Greenwich Peninsula, and we work with a wide range of freelance artists on each project. Each production has a unique visual identity and distinctive musical score. Highlights include Silver Swan, featuring a choir of seven unaccompanied singers; Under Glass, where performers are contained within glass cases, from a jam jar to a test tube; An Anatomie in Four Quarters in which the audience cut a path through the auditorium of a large theatre and Red Ladies, a chorus of identically dressed women who transform, celebrate and interrupt the familiar streets of a city. Our work is presented in London, across the UK and internationally in theatres, dance houses, galleries and public spaces including Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern, The Lowry, Wales Millennium Centre, Serralves Museum Porto and Public Theater New York. Our approach to performance making embraces difference and ambiguity, allowing us to work with complex ideas in complex systems. Each of our projects upholds movement, music and visual languages as vital ways of knowing, learning, and communicating. We offer a wide-reaching programme of education and participation projects in schools, higher education institutions and NHS Trusts. These different areas of our work overlap, creating fertile ground for dialogue, debate and collaboration. We offer a rich programme of Talent Development, developing the next generation of music, dance and interdisciplinary artists. Through learning programmes we inspire young people through music and movement in formal education settings and beyond. Performing Medicine is our award-winning, sector-leading initiative, primarily focused on the education and wellbeing of healthcare workers – developing their skills through creative practice so they can build healthier, respectful, caring, creative communities.

She was only a few months old and I wasn’t sure where to start. We went along to quite a few different baby and toddler music classes and groups, but when Monkey Music was recommended to me by a friend, from the very first class we were hooked and never looked back. I was impressed with everything about the class, the structured lesson plans, the progressive musical curricula and a wonderfully caring teacher.Very soon my little girl loved her sessions so much we had to have a collection at home of the Monkey Music songs, books and of course Monkey and Mo so she could perform her very own classes.Because the curricular is progressive by nature, it often means that families stay with Monkey Music and even bring their new additions along, (I’m now attending with my second child). The four levels of Monkey Music are specially developed around the capabilities and interests of your child, at that specific time in their lives. You will hear traditional nursery rhymes as well as some of the 500 original Monkey Music songs that have been specially written to support the curricula and your child’s development. To aid this we will use an extensive kit of carefully selected instruments, sensory and colourful props with lots and lots of activities and actions. All of the above will certainly help your child with their Social, Physical and Language Skills. It has been scientifically proven that music has great advantages and health benefits for children. One of those benefits is Music helps to improve brain power and memory. Students who were exposed to music while growing up excelled better academically than those who were not. Music helps in stimulating the part of the brain that is responsible for reading, mathematics and emotional development. Music also helps with a child’s development of social skills.Being part of a Monkey Music class will help your child relate to others, feel part of a group and eventually listen to instruction. You will watch their confidence grow and they will certainly be rewarded with praise and will feel a great sense of achievement. I have undergone extensive training to ensure I can provide a fun packed but professional class for your family.I am fully CRB checked and paediatric First Aid trained. Our classes will allow you to share precious time together, meet like-minded people and for your children to make Musical friends, so why not book your complimentary class so you can experience Monkey Music for yourself and I’m sure you too will become part of the Monkey Music family.
