Our intensive 10, 15 or 20 day Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses have been structured to meet the ever increasing demands on industry to meet safety, environmental and legal requirements regarding installation, commissioning, service and maintenance of both refrigeration and air conditioning systems including the electrical aspects of installation dependent upon course selection. The first 10 days of the Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training course are mechanical only, the following 5 or 10 days are the electrical aspects, depending on which route you need to go down. The Total Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training courses are accredited with the City & Guilds 2079, BESA Pipework and Brazing – (commercial), along with an EAL Unit* – Maintenance of Refrigeration Systems from the EAL Certificate in Engineering Technology (QCF) qualification. The F Gas Regulations course will suit any person who requires the minimum legal requirement to work on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including air conditioning and refrigeration engineers and technicians, all plant engineers, apprentices, personnel concerned with the recovery, charging or disposal of refrigerants and new comers into the industry. F Gas Regulations training courses are designed for both experienced air-conditioning and refrigeration engineers and also candidates who are looking to cross train and gain qualifications in the air conditioning / refrigeration sector. This F Gas Regulations qualification is to meet the legal requirements of EC Regulation 842/2006 (commonly known as the F Gas Regulation). The Certification Schemes are designed for operatives who install, service and repair refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems, and require the following skills: Safe handling of refrigerant techniques Pipework and Jointing skills Recovery of Refrigerants (restricted to small systems only) Intrusive and non-intrusive leak and performance checking Category 1 covers all aspects of installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, recovery and leak checking on all refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems in accordance with the F-Gas Regulation EC842/2006, regardless of the weight of refrigerant in the system. Course subjects are: Pressure test and discharge to BSEN378 Charge a blended refrigerant Evaluate system performance to ensure competence (using rule of thumb, temperature, refrigerant state and pressure) Leak test to EC1516/2007 Fabricate and fit brazed and mechanical joints Uphold F-Gas records and log books. Handle refrigerant safely and dispose of rightfully Pressure Regulation compliance All candidates will be able to ensure systems are tight, efficient in their use of energy and meet the F-Gas legal requirement.

This is an online course sat at your own pace to introduce you to clinical coaching. During the course we will go into the concept of training a student, learning methods, tutorial techniques, safeguarding and how to use the Central Skills Log (CSL). The course is open for 2 months. Once completed we can then arrange access to the CSL for one of Abbeydale’s students.

The Central Heating Controls Wiring and Fault Finding course is a two day-day short course aimed at anyone involved in the construction, commissioning, inspection & testing or maintenance of central heating electrical control systems. The Central Heating Controls Wiring and Fault Finding course covers all the commonly used control systems in use today and is focused on the ‘practical’ construction and commissioning along with the relevant fault finding techniques. The Central Heating Controls Wiring and Fault Finding course requires an understanding of electrical principles and cable termination skills. A requirement of this course is the successful completion of their Essential Electrics examination prior to sitting the central heating controls wiring & fault finding examinations. Please ring if clarification is needed on this point. There are two 20 minute open book examinations and the associated practical assessments. A third examination and associated assessment will be required for candidates not holding the Essential Electrics unit. The Central Heating Controls Wiring and Fault Finding course comprises of: Short theory sessions introducing the conventional wiring systems, ‘Y’ Plan, ‘S’ Plan, ‘C’ Plan, Etc. Detailed practical workshop sessions, undertaking the construction, testing and commissioning of systems Fault finding and maintenance tasks performed on working systems Examination and practical assessment preparation ready for the assessments Evaluation of the system control function (why and how it works) Each student will work on their own system, and will have plenty of time to absorb and understand how each systemworks. Advise will be given on suitable ‘tooling’ and test equipment. These are nationally recognizable qualifications which are fast becoming an essential requirement for this type of work.
