In this workshop we&#39;ll instruct you how to make your own kombucha to take home.Kombucha is a tangy, fizzy fermented tea drink made using a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts). It&#39;s a great, refreshing low-alcohol - a tiny bit is produced during fermentation - alternative to your usual tipple.Our 1.5 hour course starts with a welcome drink (fermented, of course) along with a few tasters of our core range of sauerkraut and kimchi and perhaps the occasional one or two experiments we&#39;ve been working on.From here we dive into what fermentation actually is and the scientific methodology of how we as humans can harness it to do our bidding. In this workshop we'll instruct you how to make your own kombucha to take home.

Kombucha is a tangy, fizzy fermented tea drink made using a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts). It's a great, refreshing low-alcohol alternative to your usual tipple.
Our 1.5 hour course starts with a welcome drink (fermented, of course) along with a few tasters of the range of sauerkraut and kimchi we produce and perhaps the occasional one or two experiments we've been working on.

From here we dive into what fermentation actually is and the scientific methodology of how we as humans can harness it to do our bidding. This involves touching on some basic scientific principles to assist in the understanding of what we are actually doing when we 'ferment' something. These principles will be ESSENTIAL when making a successful ferment on the day and at home. Making the perfect sourdough can be challenging but with Emmanuel&#39;s expert guidance &amp; expertise you will learn the necessary&nbsp;practical skills, knowledge and confidence to enable you to return home and recreate delicious pure nutritious loaves. He will guide you through the magic of wild yeast, making a starter culture and how to refresh it and care for it long after you have left the workshop.&nbsp;

How do I attend?

EITHER -
CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. Ciara McEllin is building her list as a Junior Agent at Watson Little. 

She reads widely across book club, upmarket and literary fiction. Within these areas, she is drawn to novels that examine family and relationship dynamics, sexuality, identity, and vulnerability. Ciara is keen to hear from writers who take a fresh approach to these themes, whether that be a new perspective on a traditional narrative or a focus on characters and voices that remain underrepresented: think Kairos by Jenny Erpenbeck, Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday or Monkey Grip by Helen Garner. Quarterly meetings at the Academy
To ensure a well-rounded learning experience, you will be required to attend face-to-face lessons at the Academy on a quarterly basis, which means every three months. These sessions serve several important purposes:

Practical Units: Some aspects of the course require hands-on practical training. The face-to-face lessons will cover these practical units, allowing you to gain valuable experience and apply the knowledge you have acquired during the virtual learning sessions.

Tests and Mock Exams: These assessments are important for evaluating your progress, identifying areas for improvement, and preparing you for the final exams. The Academy will provide a controlled and supervised environment to ensure the integrity and fairness of these assessments.

Yes, you will have 3 months’ time from the start of your course to find a placement.
The Academy provides a list of Private and NHS Dental Surgeries, who are regularly contacting us when looking for more Trainee Dental Nurses, so you can contact them directly as a registered student at the Academy. This is a paid job, unless you would like to work voluntary for personal reasons. We also provide a reference letter to the employee in case you need it.

The curriculum is based on the GDC (General Dental Council) registration requirements for dental nurses. These are set out in terms of professional competencies, with the assessment method clearly outlined (e.g. how the skills and knowledge will be assessed in the final examinations – via written questions such as multiple choice (MCQ) or extended matching questions (EMQ) or via Objective Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs). There are two exams:
1. Multiple choice theory exam. November and March.

To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam.

The courses are subject-specific, train the core skills needed for any product safety individual, and will help with maintaining any GFSI-recognised certification scheme.


The 3-day Fast Track program will comprise of 3 of the following 4 courses:

Risk Assessment – This one-day course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of risk assessment and enable them to use different risk assessment models.
Root Cause Analysis – This one-day course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of root cause analysis (RCA) to know its importance and be able to perform it competently.
Validation and Verification – This one-day course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of validation and verification, so they know the level of detail required for each process and are able to use validation and verification in practice.
Vulnerability Assessment for Food Fraud Training – This one-day course will provide you with a thorough understanding of vulnerability assessment for food fraud and enable you to use techniques to better identify and mitigate risks associated to raw materials in the supply chain.

The above courses are especially helpful when implementing some of the requirements in the BRCGS Standards.

All product safety personnel in food and packaging, storage and distribution and related industries – for example quality assurance managers, food technologists, category technologists and HACCP teams. 
Enrolment is free of charge for anyone working at a BRCGS certificated site and there is no limit to the amount of people that can join.
