Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable pupils and students is more challenging than ever. This masterclass is designed to equip key safeguarding staff with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate the complexities of protecting our most at risk young people. In an ever changing landscape, where safeguarding concerns are becoming increasingly complex, this session will explore the key vulnerabilities affecting students today and the practical changes that can lead to earlier identification and intervention. We will examine critical areas of concern, statutory safeguarding requirements, key statistics and the risk factors that place students at heightened risk. Additionally, we will review best practices for providing effective support, ensuring that every young person receives the protection and care they need.

Speaker Sarah Charlton, Consultant, DG Legal Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Her career spans over 35 years working within the legal sector, fulfilling roles from COFA through to CEO. During her career she has worked with a number of legal regulators, professional bodies and government organisations. Sarah has been a member of the Institute of Legal Finance and Management throughout her career, qualifying as a Fellow member in 2005. Sarah also served as chairperson between 2010-2012 and continues to serve as an Executive Council Member.

This training is for lawyers who may come into contact with vulnerable people through their work. In particular, it is aimed at those who hold legal aid contracts and must meet the requirements of the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM) standard in respect of safeguarding. Everyone has the right to be kept safe from harm, abuse or neglect. We all have obligations to ensure that vulnerable people are protected and that we have appropriate procedures in place to ensure that abuse is identified and reported.  We will help you to understand the following; What is safeguarding? Amie specialises in all aspects of Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights work, with a specialism in human trafficking/modern slavery cases and working with vulnerable clients. Amie is an experienced trainer, delivering a range of training on both legal and practice management topics.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead Advanced Course is an expert-led update and refresher course for school and college DSLs and their Deputies. It is an extensive, authoritative and highly rated, full-day training course that ensures DSL/DDSLs have the most comprehensive, effective and up-to-date knowledge and strategies in place to lead the safeguarding provision in their setting.

This masterclass will help develop your confidence and knowledge in identifying and managing complex safeguarding issues.

This must-attend masterclass will provide a comprehensive understanding of all the key developments in the latest statutory and non-statutory guidance documents from a DSLs perspective, and how they relate to safeguarding provision in schools and colleges.

This Course is the DSL Course delivered via Zoom (it is the same as the face to face course but delivered via video conferencing and will be no more than 15 people at one time. There will be a training consultant taking delegates through the course and available to answer any questions throughout the course. This course will help you and you become familiar with the role and responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead in your organisation. It will develop both your competence and confidence in carrying out the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Formally known as Level 3.
