Whether you are new to managing, maintaining or monitoring the SCR or you want to refresh your knowledge, this three-hour masterclass will cover everything you need to know and to ensure is in place and will dispel some of the myths and confusion surrounding the SCR.

This training is for lawyers who may come into contact with vulnerable people through their work. In particular, it is aimed at those who hold legal aid contracts and must meet the requirements of the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM) standard in respect of safeguarding. Everyone has the right to be kept safe from harm, abuse or neglect. We all have obligations to ensure that vulnerable people are protected and that we have appropriate procedures in place to ensure that abuse is identified and reported.  We will help you to understand the following; What is safeguarding? The different types of abuse Example signs of abuse, harm and neglect What action should be taken if abuse is suspected The SQM requirements What a Safeguarding Policy should include Target Audience The online course is suitable for staff of all levels, from support staff to senior partners and is aimed at firms maintaining or wishing to obtain the Specialist Quality Mark. Resources Comprehensive and up to date course notes will be provided to all delegates which may be useful for ongoing reference or cascade training. This must-attend masterclass will provide a comprehensive understanding of all the key developments in the latest statutory and non-statutory guidance documents from a DSLs perspective, and how they relate to safeguarding provision in schools and colleges.

The New to the Role of Designated Safeguarding Lead Course is an expert-led course for those new to the role of school / college DSLs and or Deputy DSL.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead Advanced Course is an expert-led update and refresher course for school and college DSLs and their Deputies. It is an extensive, authoritative and highly rated, full-day training course that ensures DSL/DDSLs have the most comprehensive, effective and up-to-date knowledge and strategies in place to lead the safeguarding provision in their setting.

This specialist training is required for anyone in charge of a Junior Section or Company Camp/Holiday. This course is being held online over two evenings, attendance at both parts is required. Open to any BBUK Leaders who have fully completed the registration process. Safeguarding and Managing Risk e-learning modules must be completed prior to attending the training course. By the end of the course you will be able to: Identify the key elements in the preparation phase of a residential. Set realistic aims for the event in consultation with children and young people. Plan and deliver a high-quality programme at a residential. Carry out effective risk assessments for residentials. Understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries during settings such as residentials, events, and activities outside of BB weekly sessions. Recognise the importance of maintaining safe and appropriate boundaries with children and young people during residentials. Understand and meet the needs of children and young people away from home. Contribute to positive working relationships with adult colleagues. Renewal of certification is required every five years, which can be done by attending the course or submitting logfiles of residentials attended to UKHQ.
