Attending a Maker Space session will give you an informal and enjoyable introduction to Computer Aided Design and Digital Manufacturing. We use only open source design software, that you can download and use at home for free. We have 3D Printers, a CNC Router, a Laser-cutter, a digital embroidery machine, and a 3D scanner, and all of them are available for you to use. Join local artist Lou Davis for a relaxing watercolour painting session at The Arienas Collective in Edinburgh's beautiful Georgian New Town City Centre

Prepare to amaze yourself, and your friends, with the beautiful canoe you will build here.. and Yes! You do take your canoe home with you when you leave. First Day The first stage in the process is to cut out the marine ply panels, and sew these together using cable ties as seen here. This is a fun stage, and you quickly see your canoe coming together. Children often opt to be involved at this stage. Not all children decide to be with us for the slower paced sections of the build. Second Day The second day is mainly taken up with cutting, planing, sanding and fitting the seats ( the Thwarts). At the end of the second day we aim to apply the first coat of resin, to the inside of your canoe, along with glassfibre tape ro reinforce the seams.  Third Day  Most of the third day is taken up with preparing the outside of your canoe for the resin and tape. This involves a lot of patient planing and sanding, The whole boat gets two coats of resin inside and out, and all the seams are reinforced with glassfibre tape on the outside too. This workshop is open to beginners as well as intermediate-level students, so you can take your time and learn at your own pace. You'll be guided through all the steps of making jewellery from scratch, so you'll leave feeling confident in your skills whatever level you work at. The week is designed around you and you needs and aims. We'll have everything on hand that you need, including the silver clay and tools. We even provide the accommodation and endless tea and coffee to keep you refreshed throughout the retreat.
