<p data-key="26"><span data-key="27">On this full day course you will have the opportunity to make a couple of pieces of jewellery from silver clay. Silver clay is relatively new to the world of jewellery making, introduced by Mitsubishi in the early 90's. It is made from tiny particles of reclaimed and recycled silver which are mixed with a non toxic organic binder. The clay can be rolled, textured, moulded and carved. During firing, the binder burns away and the silver particles sinter so you are left with a beautiful piece of solid silver.</span></p>
<p data-key="28"><span data-key="29">There are so many possibilities to create some beautiful jewellery. In your full day class you will learn some of the basic techniques needed to create silver clay jewellery and shown how to use the required tools in the workshop.</span></p>
<p data-key="30"><span data-key="31">- Designed for total beginners and people looking to improve - Dawn will meet you at your level and help you progress. </span></p>

<p>Come and join one our classes at the jewellery business studio. We have the tools and the experience, you&rsquo;ll go home thrilled and wearing your new jewellery with pride! Small classes mean you get plenty of one to one time with your tutor.</p>
<p>Everyone is here to enjoy themselves and have fun doing something unique &ndash; we pride ourselves on having a friendly and open group of people to work with (new friendships are often formed here!). These classes are suitable for beginners and those with some skills already. We will meet you at your level and teach what you need.&nbsp;</p>
<p>No matter if you&rsquo;ve never made jewellery before. No matter how creative you are, we&rsquo;ll work with you. And trust us, you&rsquo;ll surprise yourself at what you can do.</p>
<p><strong>Weekly Classes</strong></p>
<p>Weekly classes with Emmie run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and also Thursday mornings. These sessions are 2 hours long each and should be block booked (six sessions &ndash; flexible start and finish point). Once you have purchased your block of 6 sessions, you will be given access to our calendar where you can book onto the sessions you wish to attend. This ticket will book you onto your first session, the following 5 sessions can be booked at your convenience via our online calendar at The Jewellery Business. <p>Evening sessions run from 6-8pm and morning sessions from 10am-12 noon. <p>In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design &ndash; so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don&rsquo;t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.</p>
<p>6 sessions cost &pound;120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery &ndash; unique to you!</p>

Weekly Classes
Weekly classes with Emmie run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and also Thursday mornings. These sessions are 2 hours long each and should be block booked (six sessions – flexible start and finish point). Once you have purchased your block of 6 sessions, you will be given access to our calendar where you can book onto the sessions you wish to attend. This ticket will book you onto your first session, the following 5 sessions can be booked at your convenience via our online calendar at The Jewellery Business. (View the calendar here)

In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design – so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don’t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.
6 sessions cost £120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery – unique to you!

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with Textile artist and teacher LINDA HARVEY who talks about her work.
We are excited to have the immensely talented mixed-media textile artist Linda Harvey join us for our April Tea 'N Chat event. With over 25 years of experience in both teaching and creating, Linda brings a deep well of knowledge and a true passion for her craft. As the Head of Textiles at Archbishop Holgate's School in York and a dedicated member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, Linda's commitment to her art is truly inspiring.
On the night, during the event, we will be running a mini competition to win one of Linda's new Books ‘INSPIRED BY YOU’ 100 Days of Textiles Art



Linda’s artwork is a mesmerizing fusion of rustic textures and innovative techniques. Drawing inspiration from her travels, she transforms photographs into expressive, abstract textile creations. Her work beautifully reflects her love for color and texture, incorporating elements such as hand-felted backgrounds, free-motion embroidery, intricate layering, and rust dyeing.

LINDA HARVEY  Textile Artist and Head of Textiles at Archbishop Colgate School, York

Linda studied Textiles and Surface Design at University Centre Somerset, graduating in 1994. She is a textile artist and Head of Textiles at a York secondary school and a member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, which promotes and supports the best in stitched art worldwide.
The inspiration for her work mainly comes from the places she visits, taking photographs of anything that catches her eye. These photographs give a starting point from which her work evolves, often working on several pieces at a time, as she enjoys an expressive and experimental way of working.
Linda is inspired by rustic textures and the ageing process, drawn to anything corroded and tarnished and immediately seeing how it can be turned into a textile art piece. Colour and texture are the key elements in her work.



The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea 'N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed.
