In this afternoon session, you will create your very own set of 3 silver stacking rings. You will learn how to calculate your finger size, solder, form the metal, and texture and polish the silver to create your lovely stack of rings. You can decide on their design to create your own individual set. This is an excellent starting project for a beginner. For those with more experience, it is an opportunity to develop your skills further. During this day workshop you will be shown the techniques to create your very own bezel set ring. You will learn to set a cabochon stone (stones with a curved top and completely flat base). This is an excellent introduction to stone setting for those who have always wished to learn to set stones. For those with some experience, you can create a more detailed ring which explores textures and more advanced design techniques. WHEN: Saturday 26th October 10-5pm WHERE: Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. Unit F9 The Mayford Centre, Mayford Green Woking, Surrey  GU22 0PP TUTOR: Kirsten Hendrich WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE? Some stones might not be suitable due to size or shape, so please be aware if you do bring along your own stones, it might not be suitable for the setting technique but we will advise you on the day. Stones shouldn’t be smaller than 8-10mm for those new to setting as they can be hard to work with and is it harder to see the processes involved in setting. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None, all abilities are welcomed. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your project. Create your very own silver chain bracelet during this day workshop. We will guide you through all the processes involved in creating your own design. From cutting, shaping and texturing the silver, through to soldering and polishing. You will create each link and a T bar clasp. This is a fantastic project to help you learn or improve your soldering skills, and a great introduction to jewellery making. We work really hard to make sure our students love what they create, so if you have a chunkier design idea in mind, please get in touch as the material costs increase and it can be more difficult to create thicker links, so we just need to check it is achievable within the time frame. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None, all abilities are welcomed. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your own chain bracelet from start to finish. Our small classes mean we are able to provide each student with the support they require. Students must be 16+ Students aged 14 or 15 are able to attend if accompanied by an adult. Discover the golden art of Kintsugi. The perfect answer to fixing or upcycling sentimental pottery. Whether it's your favourite cup or your Nan's best vase, during this uplifting pottery workshop, we'll take you on a step-by-step journey to fix or upcycle pottery using gold metallic lacquer that is visible and beautiful. Loosely translated, Kintsugi means 'golden joinery' that highlights your object's events rather than disguises them. It can also be seen as a variant of "Waste not, want not".  All materials and tools are provided to fix one piece of ceramics per person across 1.5 hours. You can bring your own broken pottery or we have some pottery ready for you to upcycle and take home. You don’t need any experience, as your guide will be on hand with plenty of one-to-one support, letting you switch off from the world to focus entirely on yourself and follow your mind, body and spirit during the session. At the end of this Kintsugi class in London, you'll have a beautiful piece of pottery, along with a new skill to continue developing in your own time! This attractive and popular setting style allows for you to learn more advanced setting techniques that will take your skills to a new level. We will discuss how to lay out the stones within the setting and discuss fine tolerances. You will then prepare your ring for setting before you begin drilling and opening the channel and finally set the stones in place. By the end of the day you will have the knowledge needed to apply these advanced techniques to your own designs.
