The RYA Powerboat Instructor Skills Assessment is a mandatory requirement ahead of all Powerboat Instructor courses. Course Duration 1/2 day for each group of 3 attendees. If we have 6 attending then one group will go afloat in the morning and another in the afternoon with an overlap at lunchtime to address the theory element of the assessment. Instructor – student ratio 3 students to 1 Powerboat Trainer per boat. Minimum Age Those over the age of 16 can attend the assessment. Course price For those attending the RYA Powerboat Instructor course with us the cost of the assessment is £150. Course dates You can attend a pre-assessment at any time up to 6 months before your course. Assessments are always scheduled the day before a instructors course for those that can’t get to the centre ahead of the course. We are usually happy to schedule dates for assessments to suit your diary. During the course of your general RYA training you will have gained all the skills necessary to sail, motor or power boat with confidence to a high standard. The following courses consolidate all those skills and give you the tools required to instruct others to gain their RYA qualifications. You will be able to utilise our Instructors experience and our boats/equipment to feel at ease with instructing others.

B1 English ELR and SERU are mandatory requirement for those who are planning of applying PCO licence to the Transport For London (TFL) or renewal a licence, that prove that you meet the English language skills. On 1 October 2021, TFL changed how they assess London PHV driver’s English language skills and introduced a requirement for drivers to show an understanding of safety, equality and regulatory matters (the SERU assessment). Drivers must satisfy the ELR by taking and passing a new speaking and listening test and the SERU assessment is used to assess their reading and writing skills.  ABOUT THE COURSE: All new applicants for a London PHV driver’s licence and existing licensees who have not met the ELR, are required to take and pass both the speaking and listening test and the SERU assessment. Come and join us for a day of weaving with willow with Travelling Weaver Sophie. Together we’ll spend the day learning the different techniques and ways of weaving to get the best from this natural material, creating your very own willow planter for inside or outside. Can be planted directly with a liner or a suitable size pot inserted. Handcrafted small cork handles will be supplied. Suitable for all, no previous experience necessary. All materials included.

This class is about getting to grips with Tube Setting. You will have to option to create a pendant or ring – maybe even two pieces if time allows. Krista will guide you through the process of tube setting where you will be using the Foredom Pendant Motor to cut a seat for your facetted brilliant cut stone. From here you can design and make your pendant or ring, solder your setting in place and then learn the techniques to set your stone. We have put together a Pinterest Board to show how tube setting can be used within jewellery making. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: It will help to have some experience with basic making skills. All tools and consumables are supplied YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH: 0.8mm silver sheet – 0.5cm wide x 9cm length – for a band ring or pendant design. 2mm silver round wire – 15cm Length – for a pendant or 2 rings 4.5mm silver tube – 7cm 4mm Cubic Zirconias x 3 WHAT TO BRING: For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within Workshop 925. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. Also pack your own lunch, snacks and drinks for the session. During this two-day workshop, you will learn how to tell a compelling story via photographs. Participants will gain the tools for conceiving of and crafting their own projects, with pointers on how to find ideas, develop your vision, and self-edit. We will cover a broad range of themes, including subject interaction, ethical dimensions, natural light usage and composition. There will also be practical guidance on financing projects, and where to place finished work.Between the two sessions there will be an assignment, intended to provide a practical application of newly acquired skills – this will be reviewed in our second meeting.This workshop is perfect for those with a good understanding of digital photography, seeking to hone their storytelling abilities and push the boundaries of documentary photography.Day 1:– Introduction to photographic storytelling.– Case study of Michael’s work in relation to the practicalities involved with funding, organising and producing a documentary project.– Discussion on the work of inspirational photographers, film makers, and artists.– Consideration of the ethical challenges encountered when producing documentary photography.– Introduction of practical task, and review of images.There will be a practical assignment to be carried out before the 2nd session.Day 2:– Photo story workshop and discussion on style.– Editing: how to select the right pictures to suit narrative objectives.– How to work within time constraints.– Practical task– Portfolio review of work produced during the workshop.– Presentation on opportunities, competitions, and publishing documentary photography projects.   Courses are subject to minimum enrolment.
