You will come away with knowledge of philanthropy, funding and development in theatre, associated roles and career paths as well as a range of skills to apply to your own creative journeys, projects and funding endeavours. Some topics covered will include: Why the arts need philanthropy Who becomes a fundraiser, and where it can take you? Who funds theatre and theatres? DATE: Tuesday 14th May TIME: 4:00pm LOCATION: Studio A On Tuesday 14th May we'll be hosting an International Students Event in Studio A, an opportunity for our international students to come together, get to know one another and share short films from their home countries and states, followed by some casual drinks and finger food.If you are planning on attending, please fill in this form where you can submit the film you wish to present. All films should be accessible for free online using platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo.

Date: Monday 6th November Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of the most acclaimed films of the 2000s, is about memory, love and the pain of heartbreak, whilst wrapped up in a brilliant, high-concept conceit: if you could erase someone from your memory, would you do it? This is the question faced by Joel and Clementine, following their relationship and breakup, as they navigate their past together and whether they want to hold onto their memories of each other, from once happy times that have now turned painful. Date: Monday 30th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk, Finding Forrester) creates a tender, meditative portrait of young gay men living off-grid in the early 1990s in My Own Private Idaho. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix play best friends Scott and Mike, who turn tricks and hustle through difficulties living on the streets. Their bond and love is tested when ghosts from the past arise and they're forced onto the road to find answers. One of the most important films in LGBTQ+ cinema, My Own Private Idaho broke down barriers and flew in the face of taboo at the time of its release. Come and see this important story of celebrating gay culture on the big screen.

Date: Thursday 15th June Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Event Details: Tim Haines is a television producer and director, having worked on several highly-respected documentary and drama productions over a storied career. Tim will speak about the following topics as well as others at the event: Approaches to Documentary How a Documentary Gets Made The Purpose of a Documentary Modern Combinations of CGI & Live Action Throughout students will have the chance to ask questions about the topics being discussed, before wrapping up with a wider Q+A session at the end. A multiple Emmy and BAFTA winner, Tim has worked on many well known series, including: - Walking with Dinosaurs - Director & Producer - Primeval - Producer - The Loch - Producer - Surviving Earth (currently in production) - Producer This is a free event that all students are welcome to attend. Date: 12th March 2024 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Acclaimed actress Ruth Negga will be joining us in a Professional Perspectives session next month, discussing her career, experiences working with many famous directors (Neil Jordan, Jeff Nichols, James Gray & Duncan Jones amongst others) as well as on TV shows such as Preacher, Misfits and Agents of SHIELD. There will also be a Q+A session towards the end where students can ask her questions directly. Be sure to book tickets in advance so that you can secure your place for this exciting event!

DATE: 5th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Provocateur Darren Aronofsky's powerful drama about a man fighting his own body for human dignity, The Whale was the triumphant return of Brendan Fraser to the big screen after years in the Hollywood wilderness, winning him the Oscar for Best Actor and cementing his status as a Silver Screen legend.

DATE: Thursday 11th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Chris Jones is one of the lead organisers of the London Screenwriting Festival, and also recently served as Splinter Unit Director of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. He will be discussing both how students can navigate film festivals and make their work stand out, and also his experiences working in a position of creative control on a large-scale blockbuster film.
