Date: Monday 27th November Location: Studio A Time: 4pm Writer turned director Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, First Reformed) created a unique, avant-garde biopic about notorious Japanese author Yukio Mishima, who embraced Japan's traditions and fought against the gradual westernisation that became common following the end of World War Two. Using adaptations of sections of his novels, as well as traditional recounting of real-life events, this film sticks out as one of Schrader's best, and continues to inspire awe and heated discussion years later.

Date: Tuesday 3rd October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Lucy Percival will be holding a talk on 'How to Find Your Ideal Role in Film & Navigating the World of Independent Filmmaking & Financing' Lucy has produced award-winning short films through both independent production companies and organisations such as the BFI and NFTS. Her films have been screened at numerous BAFTA qualifying festivals, including Raindance, Bolton International Film Festival and Carmarthen Bay Film Festival. She has now joined Window Zebra Productions as their Senior Creative Producer overlooking and developing the narrative slate. Come and hear her thoughts and suggestions on how you can find your wheelhouse and get started on your creative journey.

DATE: Tuesday 28th May TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Jordan Gifford is an up and coming writer, director and producer who will be coming in to give advice on looking for Freelance Film work. He will discuss his own burgeoning career, how he went from a runner to working in film locations, to being given the opportunity to produce his first feature film, all whilst also finding his own voice as a writer/director of dramatic short films. You will get the chance to ask him questions directly as well, and hear advice from someone who not too long ago was in your shoes exactly. Be sure to book in advance if you want to come along.

DATE: 15th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A BAFTA winners Chris Wilder and Daisy Jacobs are a pair of writer/directors who will be coming in to showcase and discuss their short films, as well as their experiences directing animation and their progress after finishing film school 10 years ago. If you have any interest in animation, directing, screenwriting or just what you can expect after graduation, these are the perfect guests to come along and meet. DATE: 30th January TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A We are pleased to reignite Professional Perspectives in 2024 with a fantastic first guest, legendary British actress and multi BAFTA-winner Jessica Hynes. Jessica has acted in numerous critically-acclaimed series and films over a stunning career, including Spaced, Twenty Twelve, Doctor Who, Years and Years, Paddington 2, Son of Rambow and There She Goes. A celebrated screenwriter and director as well, every student at Central Film School will benefit from hearing Jessica speak, as she offers insight and advice from her time in the entertainment industry. Date: Monday 16th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Join us again for CFS Film Club, as this week we visit one of the essential independent films of the last decade, 2016's Best Picture Winner Moonlight. Barry Jenkins' tender masterpiece explores the LGBT identity within wider African-American culture, with stunning imagery, sensational performances and a wondrous score. Follow the story of Chiron, a teenager growing up in the Miami ghetto, dealing with his sexuality and drug-addict mother. Tickets are free to this event, and be sure to join us in The Landor pub afterwards to discuss the film together.

DATE: Thursday 18th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A MAX ALBRECHT is the creative director and founder of Critical Mask Pictures, a production company that focuses on narrative filmmaking. Max will be joining us on Thursday 18th July to discuss how best to market yourself and find work as a freelancer in the film and television industries. With years of experience under his belt, this will be a great Life Skills Session to attend to learn about life after CFS. Max will also discuss his experiences founding a production company and operating as a sole trader, so that attendees can learn of all the many ways to make a living independently in the business. A Q+A Session will take place for anything specific people wanted to ask. Be sure to book your free ticket in advance so that you don't miss out!

Date: Monday 2nd October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Events Details: Come and join our first Film Club screening of the year as we kick off the 'QUEER COMING-OF-AGE' season with a modern classic of the genre; Desiree Akhavan's 2018 Sundance champion, The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Featuring a career-best performance from Chloe Grace Moretz, we follow Cameron's journey of self-discovery in mid-90s America, as she's sent to a gay conversion camp. Under the strict enforcement of anti-LGBT teachings, Cameron learns to grow and be defiant in her own quiet way, whilst bonding with her peers. A powerful film in the mode of John Hughes, you won't want to miss this screening. After the film we'll head to The Landor pub next door where we'll discuss what we've seen over some drinks. Offering a safe, professional manner for creative individuals to connect with one another, this is an essential event for any actors, filmmakers and future creatives to attend and learn from.

DATE: 2nd April TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Are you looking to get feedback on a film, acting showreel or short screenplay? Send it in to be part of our CRITICAL VIEWING SESSION. This is a laid-back, informal session where you can receive feedback on your work from your peers and friends in a friendly, constructive manner.This will be a great opportunity for you to get unofficial feedback on work you have completed both in school and in your personal time, as well as give you the chance to flex your criticism muscles and express how you feel about others' work.Please note, films should not exceed 10 minutes, scripts or script samples should not exceed 10 pages and showreels/performance pieces should not exceed 5 minutes.
