Our research shows Takeover Day can support children and young people to learn about different jobs in museums and develop their skills for employment in the heritage sector and beyond. For heritage organisations, Takeover Day is a great opportunity to connect with different groups of children and young people, attract new audiences and pilot new ways of working. This session will include a case study from the National Army Museum about their first careers themed Takeover Day with a local primary school. Since 2023, GEM has been researching work experience, work placements and inclusive pathways for young people in the museum sector.
