This workshop will explore the many variables which lead to self harm while exploring methods of healing distress through curiosity and compassionate understanding Hosted by Dr Leslie Lund Leslie is an Adolescent Psychotherapist and Family Therapist with nearly 30 years of experience. As a senior therapist, she supervises other private practice therapists, school counsellors and administrators within schools, as well as other psychological professionals within the wider community. She has a special interest in the mental health of young people within educational environments and supports the development of Wellbeing programmes in schools. We would like to thank the Ashcombe school for allowing us to use their facilities to run our training and workshops.

This course includes all the content of the 1 day First Aid for Mental Health, and in addition provides insight into a wider range of mental health conditions. It explores the range of therapies and professional support an individual may be offered. The course is suitable for all within a workplace although is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and/or are responsible for implementing a positive mental health culture for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.

She has also been a guest-speaker at The Listening Place, a charity focused on helping those with suicidal thoughts. She will be joining us to specifically discuss topics of isolation, substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Person-centred approaches are a core skills framework that articulates what it means to be person-centred and how to develop and support the workforce to work in this way. Developed in partnership with Skills for Health and Skills for Care, the Framework aims to distil best practices and to set out core, transferable behaviours, knowledge and skills. It is applicable across services and sectors and across different types of organisations. Person-centred approaches underpins existing dementia, learning disabilities, mental health and end of life care core skills frameworks. This subject forms standard 5 in The Care Certificate.
