Registered nurses and carers are professionally and personally accountable for their actions and any omissions in care; this includes decisions he or she makes to administer or withhold prescribed medicines.

Why Is It Important?
Effective medication management requires knowledge, skills and competence in order to preserve patient safety.
All members of the multidisciplinary team have a vital role to play in medicine administration and management: from the pharmaceutical companies that trial new medicines and ultimately manufacture them, to the doctors and other professionals who prescribe them, the pharmacists who dispense them, and the nurses/carers who administer them.
Errors in any aspect of the process of medicines management can result in catastrophic outcomes for the patient. According to the Department of Health (2013), at least 11 people died in the NHS in 2012 because they were given incorrect prescriptions and 8 per cent of all hospital prescriptions contain errors.

Why Is Multiple Sclerosis Care Important?
Multiple sclerosis is the most common cause of neurological disability in young adults. It is a disease of the brain and spinal cord, and a lifelong condition that usually follows a relapsing or progressive course and results in a gradual accumulation of permanent disability. MS causes a multitude of symptoms that affect physical and cognitive function as well as mood; symptoms vary between individuals and for the same individual. Although disease-modifying drugs (DMDs), which can change the disease course, are available for people with active relapsing disease, there is no cure. MS affects every aspect of people’s lives – work, family, social life –and is characterised by unpredictability and variability. Overview
This Delirium Care Training ½ day course looks at the basic understanding of Delirium, the treatments and the associated risks, difference between Delirium and Dementia and general observations including person centred care, good documentation and legal aspects/guidelines.

Why Delirium Care Important?
Delirium is a state of heightened mental confusion that commonly affects older people admitted to hospital. 96% of cases are experienced by older people. When older people with Dementia experience severe illness or trauma such as hip fracture they are more at risk of Delirium. This causes distress to patients, families and carers and has potentially serious consequences such as the likelihood of admission to long term care and increased mortality. People with Delirium may need to stay longer in Hospital and have increased incidence of Dementia and Hospital acquired complications such as falls and pressure ulcers.

CLASSROOM OPTION - Attend one of our scheduled classroom locations, completing your Introduction to Phlebotomy Course over 2 days. You will also complete your Advanced Training at the end of the first day and your Competency Training at the end of the second day.

Our Introduction to Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy Training Kits are supplied at no charge when booking our virtual classroom training option.
If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM OPTION- Complete your theory training online at home or work, then join us for a one day Zoom session to complete your Introduction to Phlebotomy virtual classroom training, followed by your Advanced Training in the evening of the same day. You have the option to add a classroom-based competency session, awarding a CPD Accredited Geopace Certificate of Competency, at time of booking.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. The Academy provides a list of Private and NHS Dental Surgeries, who are regularly contacting us when looking for more Trainee Dental Nurses, so you can contact them directly as a registered student at the Academy. This is a paid job, unless you would like to work voluntary for personal reasons. We also provide a reference letter to the employee in case you need it.

The curriculum is based on the GDC (General Dental Council) registration requirements for dental nurses. It sets out the knowledge, skills and behavioural requirements that should be developed and demonstrated. These are set out in terms of professional competencies, with the assessment method clearly outlined (e.g. how the skills and knowledge will be assessed in the final examinations – via written questions such as multiple choice (MCQ) or extended matching questions (EMQ) or via Objective Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs). When are the exams?
There are two exams:
1. Multiple choice theory exam. November and March.
2. Practical exam. January and June. 
Record of Experience (eROE)
To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam.
