At Merlin Dog Training we understand the importance of your dog to you and your family, and therefore only use positive training techniques, such as reward based and positive reinforcement. After numerous courses and over 30 years of combined experience, we know that dogs are different from wolves and consequently should be trained and treated as such. We believe that every dog has the potential to succeed in whatever field you wish to explore, with the right training and attitude. We are welcoming to all people interested in training their dogs, regardless of age, gender, ability etc. however the dogs age and ability/health is important so make sure you inquire about this when you contact us. We hold weekly classes for Agility and Obedience/Trick Training! We can offer personalised 1-2-1 sessions in those areas (as well as behaviour) if that is what you and your dog need. Both our trainers have years of experience in Agility and Obedience, with Carol having a diploma in behaviour, and are fully equipped to help you and your dog. We are a cookery school for disabled adults 18 plus. At StedyChefs we teach all about the joy and fun to be had whilst cooking ,not only helping improve life skills but building self confidence and making friends along the way. Our whole building is covered in fun graffiti, our chefs wear a full uniform and different coloured bandanas making their time here as fun as possible. We also teach other activities such as art and music, the Beatles actually played in our building in 1961. Our chefs cook everything from scratch and not only this, they grow their own vegetables in our outside space as well as doing outside cooking in warmer months. Our chefs do food related trips also once every six weeks. Some of our chefs volunteer and in the past have worked in local cafes and football stadiums. Our youngest student is 18 and our eldest is 63 years old. The food our chefs create on a daily basis can only be described as phenomenal. We are also part of the International Cookery School Association (School Of Excellence) We also teach our students health and safety in the kitchen. We recently had Merseyside Fire Brigade in our centre to deliver a lesson on hazards that may occur in a kitchen and how to handle them safely. Merseyside Police have also attended our centre to deliver on a lesson on how to stay safe when using the internet. In January of this year, seven of our students gained their Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene In The Kitchen qualification. It took us over a year of visually and verbally training our students in preparation for their test. As they passed, they are now able to legally work in a professional kitchen environment. One of the students is now actively looking for paid work in the catering sector using his newly acquired qualification. We have also partnered with The Trussell Trust and are now running a food bank from or building with the help of our wonderful students.

Dorin Park is a specialist all-age school for children and young people with physical difficulties, complex moderate learning difficulties, complex medical needs and general complex needs. Children can be admitted to us at any stage but most of our entrants arrive in Reception or Year 7 and are usually transferring to us from mainstream early years settings or mainstream primary schools. Our learning experience is designed to meets the needs of our students by marrying excellent personal development opportunities with an appropriate life skills curriculum and a relevant academic curriculum. Developing communication is a priority throughout the school. All our students in Seniors are given a Flight Path for their future development which is reviewed regularly as they move through the school to ensure they achieve their potential in all areas. Dorin Park is a school with a real sense of community – we really are a school family here. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming school with a strong emphasis on pastoral care alongside a rigorous academic education tailored to the needs of the individual.
