Barista Skills teaches the essential practical skills needed behind the espresso bar, such as how to set your grinder, make espresso, foam and texture milk for cappuccinos, and create latte art, as well as an exploration of health and safety issues, customer service protocols, and basic business practices. The Barista Skills Foundation course allows learners to gain an introductory understanding of the coffee itself and foundational skills required to set a grinder, make espressos, foam and texture milk and latte art techniques per SCA quality standards while implementing health and safety practices and customer service. Practical learning objectives and activities prepare the learner to conduct key foundational tasks of a barista. A written exam tests theoretical knowledge based on Foundation course learning objectives.

Course Outcomes As an MHFAider® you will be able to:  Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports Practise active listening and empathy Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma Discuss the MHFAider® role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality Practise self-care Know how to use the MHFAider Support App® Know how to access a dedicated text service provided by Shout and ongoing learning opportunities with MHFA England Format Learners will be trained over four live sessions with an MHFA England Instructor Member, covering 14 hours of content in total. Learning takes place through a mix of instructor led training, group discussions, individual and group activities. Each session builds on the previous, enabling the learner to gain confidence in supporting others with a Mental Health First Aid action plan. We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that instructors can keep people safe and supported while they learn. We strive for all of our learning content to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. This one day course is your chance to make the classic Adirondack chair, the chair is made in spruce softwood, which will be supplied.  The course will introduce some basic woodworking skills on mainly power tools, saws, routers etc. At the end of the day you will have a sanded chair, which you will not finish at the workshop, we will advise on finishes you can apply, due to the varying types and colours available. The chair can be transported in two pieces, and will take 5 minutes to set up at home. This is a chance to have a great day out making your own chair and learning some skills along the way!!! The theory assessment provides delegates with the essential knowledge to select, monitor, manage and plan the correct use of Harnesses and lanyards for use in a MEWP. Delegates successfully completing the e-learning will: Have an awareness of how to correctly identify and select the appropriate form of personal protection against falls from MEWPs. Have a theoretical awareness only of how to check, use, maintain and store a harness and lanyard with manufacturer’s instructions. Have a theoretical awareness of how harnesses and lanyards should be fitted and adjusted.
