Saoirse Ronan (in one of her best ever roles) stars as Christine 'Lady Bird' McPherson, an out-spoken teenager looking to establish her own identity away from Sacramento, where she's spent her whole life. DATE: 29th January TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Quentin Tarantino's debut is still as fiery and memorable all these years later. When a diamond heist goes horribly wrong, tensions rise in the warehouse where the crooks convene afterwards. As their stories conflict and intersect, we cut across time to understand how each of them got there, and what each of them is hiding from one another. There's a rat in the crew, and the dogs and going to sniff 'em out. When it debuted in 1992 this film smashed all expectations and became a surprise hit, launching Tarantino into the stratosphere as Hollywood's latest wunderkind. DATE: Tuesday 25th June TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A One of the first and most-important British LGBT+ films ever made, My Beautiful Laundrette helped open discussion about gay identity, and is also influential in its portrayal not just of an LGBT+ couple, but of an inter-racial couple as well. Daniel Day-Lewis came storming into the world of cinema with his role as Johnny, a hardened street punk hiding his true identity. Director Stephen Frears captures the mood and vibe of Thatcher-era London, creating a time-capsule of a distant world we're unfamiliar with. Book your tickets in advance.

Date: Monday 30th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk, Finding Forrester) creates a tender, meditative portrait of young gay men living off-grid in the early 1990s in My Own Private Idaho. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix play best friends Scott and Mike, who turn tricks and hustle through difficulties living on the streets. Their bond and love is tested when ghosts from the past arise and they're forced onto the road to find answers. One of the most important films in LGBTQ+ cinema, My Own Private Idaho broke down barriers and flew in the face of taboo at the time of its release. Come and see this important story of celebrating gay culture on the big screen.
Date: Wednesday 11th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Events Details: Our 'QUEER COMING-OF-AGE' season continues with a father-son road trip story exploring body dysmorphia and familial acceptance; 2020's indie hit Cowboys. Steve Zahn and Sasha Knight star as Troy and Joe, a father and transgender son who head off into the Montana wilderness to escape Joe's traditionalist mother, played by Jillian Bell. Detective Faith Erickson is hot on their tail, as the father (suffering from bipolar disorder and a drinking problem) teaches his son to shoot guns, live off the land and become the man he wants to be. A powerful but gentle film about the freedom children are afforded in choosing who they are. Date: Monday 2nd October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Events Details: Come and join our first Film Club screening of the year as we kick off the 'QUEER COMING-OF-AGE' season with a modern classic of the genre; Desiree Akhavan's 2018 Sundance champion, The Miseducation of Cameron Post. Featuring a career-best performance from Chloe Grace Moretz, we follow Cameron's journey of self-discovery in mid-90s America, as she's sent to a gay conversion camp. Under the strict enforcement of anti-LGBT teachings, Cameron learns to grow and be defiant in her own quiet way, whilst bonding with her peers. A powerful film in the mode of John Hughes, you won't want to miss this screening. After the film we'll head to The Landor pub next door where we'll discuss what we've seen over some drinks. DATE: Thursday 8th June TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A MAX ALBRECHT is the creative director and founder of Critical Mask Pictures, a production company that focuses on narrative filmmaking. Max will be joining us on Thursday afternoon to discuss how best to market yourself and find work as a freelancer in the film and television industries. With years of experience under his belt, this will be a great Life Skills Session to attend to learn about life after CFS. Max will also discuss his experiences founding a production company and operating as a sole trader, so that attendees can learn of all the many ways to make a living independently in the business.
