Owners Maintenance Courses are ran on the first Tuesday of every month (subject to availability) and are designed for those who want to gain a very basic understanding of grooming and maintaining their own dog between professional grooming appointments. You will need to bring along your own dog to work on for the day. The course will cover: Correct and safe grooming procedures prior to bathing Safe and pain-free matt removal using appropriate products, tools and equipment Correct and safe bathing and drying techniques Nail and ear care How to safely maintain your dog’s coat between their salon visits. Students will receive all course materials and it is recommended that students bring along a camera for before and after photographs as well as pens, high-lighters and notepads.

Our Induction Days ran on the first Wednesday of every month (subject to availability) and are a pre-requisite to all of our longer courses. The day is designed for those who want to gain a basic understanding of what our longer courses entail and/or are trying to establish if a career in dog grooming is for them. The cost of this day is deducted from one of the longer course of your choice. Theory work to be completed in your own time via The Guild student portal before your practical course date. Practical day – 10:30am – 5:30pm inc short lunch break. It is advisable that students arrive 15 mins early to ensure a prompt start. In a lot of cases the practical training can be finished earlier than expected depending on how many students there are, and the time taken on practical work. Gel Polish treatments are an increasingly popular treatment within the professional beauty industry. Gel Polish is applied to the client’s nail and then cured using an LED or UV lamp to create a longer lasting nail treatment (up to 3 weeks) than a standard manicure. The GTi Gel Polish course covers how to complete gel polish application and demonstrates the correct removal techniques. The course also covers reception and consultation, contra-indications to treatment and aftercare advice. This qualification is designed to provide benefit to learners on the basis that it prepares them for deployment as an Activator in Multi-Skills. Minimum numbers apply. Successful achievement of the qualification will enable Activators in Multi-Skills to facilitate extra-curricular activities within educational settings including schools, further and higher education and community participation programmes. The qualification is designed to support community development, with the aspiration to be able to tackle physical inactivity and social exclusion whilst supporting health, wellbeing, and participation initiatives. Who is the course for? Learners that attend this course can be volunteers in a range of sport and community environments, young people, parent helpers or anyone that wishes to become an activator in multi-skills. What will I achieve? The qualification will enable successful learners to progress to a sports specific coaching qualification. The skills and knowledge developed may also be used to enable learners to progress to other industry-relevant qualifications in coaching sport, activity leadership, higher education institution activity programmes, supporting PE in school sport and sports development.
