DATE: Monday 15th July TIME: 12:30pm LOCATION: Studio A We will be hosting a meeting to see how many students would be interested in a potential school trip to the Berlin International Film (Berlinale) festival next year, in Spring 2025. Organised by Mark de Valk and Conrad Pollock, this trip will offer you the chance to get to the heart of both the European Film Industry and one of the world's coolest, most vibrant cities. The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals active today, and you'll be exposed to new releases from around the world, make international connections and get to explore a European capital that's rich in history and culture. Currently we are looking at 5 days and 4 nights overall, with group travel and accommodation together. If you are interested, please join us for this meeting. This trip is open to all CFS students on all courses, and booking will likely take place in Autumn term. Please note, the trip's viability is subject to a minimum number of sign-ups (amount tbc).

DATE: Tuesday 28th May TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Jordan Gifford is an up and coming writer, director and producer who will be coming in to give advice on looking for Freelance Film work. He will discuss his own burgeoning career, how he went from a runner to working in film locations, to being given the opportunity to produce his first feature film, all whilst also finding his own voice as a writer/director of dramatic short films. You will get the chance to ask him questions directly as well, and hear advice from someone who not too long ago was in your shoes exactly. Be sure to book in advance if you want to come along.

DATE: 25th January TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Central Film School are delighted to invite Alexis Watkins to speak to our student body about the importance of mental wellbeing and the keys to mental safeguarding for both yourself and other students. Alexis has professional experience in the following roles: - Mental Health Practitioner & Data Analyst for BWW Mind - Chair of Central & North West London (CNWL) NHS Mental Health Ambassador Group - Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the WïSH Centre - National Lived Experience Partner for NHS England She has filmed with the CNWL and was recently part of a team nominated at the Health Service Journal awards for Reducing Healthcare Inequalities for Children and Young People award. She has also been a guest-speaker at The Listening Place, a charity focused on helping those with suicidal thoughts. She will be joining us to specifically discuss topics of isolation, substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Even if you are fortunate enough not to be struggling with your mental health currently, it is always worth being aware of the signs and knowing how to help others, so please consider coming along to this event if you feel comfortable doing so.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to get to meet and network with other creative students and potential future collaborators. Whether you're looking for a composer for your latest film, or looking for someone to help shoot a music video, this is a great chance to get to know more students around London. DATE: 2nd April TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Are you looking to get feedback on a film, acting showreel or short screenplay? Send it in to be part of our CRITICAL VIEWING SESSION. This is a laid-back, informal session where you can receive feedback on your work from your peers and friends in a friendly, constructive manner.This will be a great opportunity for you to get unofficial feedback on work you have completed both in school and in your personal time, as well as give you the chance to flex your criticism muscles and express how you feel about others' work.Please note, films should not exceed 10 minutes, scripts or script samples should not exceed 10 pages and showreels/performance pieces should not exceed 5 minutes.

Date: 12th March 2024 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Acclaimed actress Ruth Negga will be joining us in a Professional Perspectives session next month, discussing her career, experiences working with many famous directors (Neil Jordan, Jeff Nichols, James Gray & Duncan Jones amongst others) as well as on TV shows such as Preacher, Misfits and Agents of SHIELD. There will also be a Q+A session towards the end where students can ask her questions directly. Be sure to book tickets in advance so that you can secure your place for this exciting event!

DATE: Tuesday 21st May TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A The renowned and brilliantly-chameleonic actor Jason Flemyng is coming to Central Film School this month, and we couldn't be happier to have him. With an amazing CV including films and series such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Boiling Point, A Town Called Malice and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Jason will be talking about his career, how the industry has changed and giving practical, down-to-earth advice for our actors. There will also be an opportunity for students to put their own questions to Jason, so make sure you book a ticket and come along!

DATE: Tuesday 14th May TIME: 4:00pm LOCATION: Studio A On Tuesday 14th May we'll be hosting an International Students Event in Studio A, an opportunity for our international students to come together, get to know one another and share short films from their home countries and states, followed by some casual drinks and finger food.If you are planning on attending, please fill in this form where you can submit the film you wish to present.
