Tickets for the information sessions are only £5 and this includes refreshments.
Finally a mannequin that is an exact replica of your beautiful body, isn't it fantastic?
The gorgeous Classic Mimiquin is a full scale replica of your body with a traditional firm and pinnable surface. Formed from a precise 3D scan, these custom dressforms are made from sustainable and locally sourced materials, and come with a height adjustable stand, so you'll have everything you need to start creating as soon as you open the box.
Your custom mannequin has three cores as standard so you can use it balanced on the stand centrally or with the pole in either leg making it possible to create shorts, trousers and lingerie.
If you would like to book a scanning session there will be slots available after the presentation and Q&A.

Join us for a five week course at Stitching Kitchen and have fun with fabric and thread while learning about all the skills you need as you start your dressmaking hobby. Whether you're a complete beginner or refreshing your skills, our introductory garment sewing course is designed to build confidence and creativity. Over 10 hours (5 sessions), you'll gain hands-on experience making one or more beginner friendly garments of your choice.

Hannah is the owner of Stitching Kitchen.  Hannah really enjoys dressmaking and is often sporting her own ‘me made’ outfits. A two day sewing workshop for intermediate dressmakers to create a pair of dungarees which has a couple of different style options.  Full help is on hand to understand the pattern, cut out and assemble your dungarees.  Bring your own machine or borrow one from Stitching Kitchen.


Sew Dungarees - Erin by Tilly and the Buttons

Spend an afternoon making the Tilly and the Buttons Billie Sweatshirt or Sweatshirt Dress - a copy of the paper pattern RRP &pound;18.50 is included in the workshop cost.&nbsp;Lindsey will be there to help you with adjustments so your sweatshirt fits well and is super comfortable. &nbsp;She will guide you through construction of the garment.As always you will receive a warm welcome and tea and cake to keep you energised as you make your sweatshirt or sweatshirt dress. &nbsp;

Spend a full day developing your dressmaking skills while getting to grips with sewing with sweatshirting. In this workshop, you can choose to make Tilly and the Buttons Billie Sweatshirt(dress) or Tilly and the Buttons Drew Sweatshirt or one of the Jalie Sweatshirt patterns either 3355 or 4131 — and you’ll take home your own paper pattern (RRP £18.50 for Tilly Patterns or £20.50 for Jalie Patterns) included in the workshop price.

This longer-format session gives you time to create any version from the pattern, including optional hoodies, balloon sleeves and pockets. Help will be on hand throughout to help you with adjustments so your garment fits beautifully and feels super comfortable, guiding you step-by-step through the construction process.

Enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with plenty of tea and cake to keep you fuelled as you sew.

Marbling is great way of introducing a quick and easy surface technique if you have little to no prior experience. Especially good for students who will get immediate exciting and inspiring results.!
A beginner friendly workshop to produce great artwork for textile projects.

Essential Manufacturing Skills: Mastering Textile Construction Techniques
An Essential Sewing & Making Skills Course for Teachers of GCSE & A Level Fashion & Textiles for both Art & Design and D&T.
In Partnership with Design & Technology Association, this is a new course from the Textile Skills Centre hosted at D&TA Centre in Banbury and with support from Janome UK.




This is a totally practical day learning and practicing a variety of sewing and making skills and threading and trouble shooting sewing machine faults. 
This course is open to teachers, technicians and support staff in the textiles classroom.



This course is aimed at D&T and Fashion & Textiles teachers who are either new to teaching, support staff such as classroom assistants and technicians, or those who want to learn and add to their existing skills.

Learn and practice essential manufacturing skills that will enhance your teaching.
Develop learning from KS3, creating independent, confident and enthusiastic learners at KS4/5, giving them the technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.

Learn and practice a range of sewing tasks, such as different seams, freehand embroidery, hems, and finishes.

DAWN FOXALL
Dawn Foxall has 35+ years’ experience in the textiles and garment industry including design consultant, schools presenter and resources developer for EMTEX; Fashion lecturer and programme developer at various UK Universities and FE colleges; course presenter for D&T Association, Key Stage Developments (KSD), SFE and other course providers.
Dawn was a co-founder of Liv.co.uk (2006-2014) , where she managed design, buying and sourcing from Fairtrade, organic suppliers in India and Egypt. She has since worked with brands such as LUSH Soaps and Weleda, sourcing ethical products and consulting for young designers and start-ups. In 2017 she launched her own knitwear brand FOXOLOGY designing and producing sustainably sourced collections. 
In 2015 Dawn set up the Textiles Skills Centre (formerly ‘Academy’) supporting textile teachers, delivering workshops and events. She continues to teach pattern cutting at various education and commercial establishments, as well as for Textiles Skills Centre and also drafts patterns and consults for industry.

A very common adjustment is to allow for a larger bust. &nbsp;It is often known as a Full Bust Adjustment or FBA. &nbsp;Once you know how to make this alteration to your paper patterns your dressmaking will be transformed for ever!&nbsp;

You&rsquo;ll make a muslin/toile and then be able to make further adjustments to your pattern. &nbsp;Sheeting and pattern paper will be provided. &nbsp;You may wish to make the final version in your chosen fabric so bring along Lightweight cotton fabric, 150cm wide, 1.5m or 114cm wide, 1.8m to make the final garment.&nbsp;

Join us at Stitching Kitchen for a day of advanced dressmaking with our tutor Emma Smith. She will teach you how to adjust a bodice block to fit you - this can then be your jumping off point for tops and dresses from here on.  

Starting with a simple bodice block / sloper you will make adjustments to the calico mock up and then transfer these adjustments to create a bodice block which works for your body.

Adaptable Textile project using minimal materials - SEND and lower ability focus

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with Claire Parsons who will will show you how to use fabric scraps to create a range of different outcomes (key rings, cards, hot air balloons) using the same techniques. This allows students to build on skills and confidence whilst making a variety of products. 



MATERIALS NEEDED:
If you want to join in the workshop you will need:

Print out of pattern attached to this email
Calico/scrap material large enough to fit shape of pattern
Fabric strips - these can be cut or torn. 
Enough to cover the calico
Glue stick
Sewing machine with a zig zag stitch
Card to make a card





Claire Parsons:
Claire has been teaching Textiles for 15 years in a range of different schools and settings. Recently she made a life move to a different city and began teaching in a small SEND school. Since starting in January she has had to completely rethink the way she plans, resources and teaches her lessons to a range of different needs and abilities. It has been a refreshing but challenging experience, and she is looking forward to sharing what she has learnt with you. 




The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea 'N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed.

Inspired by Pop Art and the graphic design of protest art, Neon Knitting uses Dayglo yarns to create bold designs using simple techniques:-

<li>Knitting stripes with knit &amp; purl patterns</li>
<li>Combining open and raised effects to create bold patterns</li>
<li>Adding fabric to knitting</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;
The session includes a worksheet, knitting demonstrations, plus a PowerPoint presentation covering ways to create your fabrics, using simple mark making and basic silk screen printing.&nbsp; There will also be examples to inspire further exploration after the session.
&nbsp;
Aimed at anyone with an interest in textiles and soft sculpture, the workshop examines the artistic potential of knitting.&nbsp; The emphasis is on creating experimental samples, rather than a finished piece, although techniques can be adapted to create a garment, accessory or household object.

The workshop explores the exciting textural properties of felt, using basic knitting techniques and experimental materials.

<li>Using simple knitting techniques to create embossed effects</li>
<li>Combining felting yarn with none felting yarn to produce unusual textures</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;
There will be demonstrations of the knitting techniques, plus a discussion on the felting properties of different sheep breeds, and various wet felting methods.&nbsp; &nbsp;The workshop will focus on using pre-made yarns, and therefore will not be covering spinning with raw fibres.
All levels of ability are welcome.&nbsp; &nbsp;The class includes a worksheet, samples and a PowerPoint presentation, to inspire further ideas for after the session.

Decaying Structures in Knitting is an experimental knitting workshop, exploring ways to create holes and open surfaces using simple hand knitting techniques.&nbsp; Exploiting the properties of the fibre, the session will also look at creating eroded surfaces using both heat and chemicals methods.

<li>Creating loose structures with large needles</li>
<li>Making patterns and random holes using casting on and off techniques</li>
<li>Using a heat gun to produce an eroded surface on synthetic materials</li>
<li>Applying devor&eacute; paste to knitting to create both textural and colour effects</li>
</ul>
There will be demonstrations of knitting and yarn making techniques, plus a worksheet, PowerPoint presentation and samples to inspire further ideas after the session.
