This course focuses on effective negotiation techniques to be successful in different situations and with people holding different levels of power. Create two unique hallmark quality silver rings on this intermediate level workshop with Edinburgh-based silver clay jewellery expert Anna Campbell.
Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water, you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver rings. Anna will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.&nbsp;
You will complete two projects: a flat band ring, and a D profile ring (as shown in the photographs). You will learn how to design your rings, calculate your size to take shrinkage into account, make your own bespoke pieces and embellish with textures and a gemstone. If you want to make a ring for someone else please remember to check their ring size before coming!&nbsp;
Your rings will be taken away for kiln firing at the end of the session and will be posted to you within one week (It is recommended that rings are kiln fired rather than torch fired). Alternatively, your rings can be collected from The Arienas Collective by arrangement.
This workshop is suitable for those that have completed our half day silver clay taster or full day beginners workshops, or have some experience of working with silver clay. If you are unsure about whether it&rsquo;s suitable for you, please contact us before booking.

Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.&nbsp;
All the equipment and materials you will need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise, plus light refreshments (a selection of Shibui teas, coffee, hot chocolate, and sweet or savoury snacks). On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out; or there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, caf&eacute;s, and restaurants, plus supermarkets, within a 5-10 minute walk.

You’ll be guided by Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors, in this inspiring one-day workshop. Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class will take your jewellery-making skills to the next level. 
Over the course of the day, you’ll craft two beautiful silver rings, each showcasing different techniques. This hands-on workshop will provide you with expert guidance as you explore new ways to create and refine your designs in silver clay.
Here’s what you’ll create and learn:
Flat band ring. Start by making a classic flat band ring, which is sleek and flat all the way around. This project will introduce you to essential ring-making techniques, including how to size your ring for a perfect fit and work with silver clay to shape and refine your design. You will be able to texture and embellish this ring to make it unique to you.
D Profile ring. Next, you’ll craft a D profile ring - a design that is flat on the inside and elegantly rounded on the outside. This sophisticated style will allow you to explore more advanced techniques and develop your skills in shaping and finishing.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a welcoming and supportive environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.
All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Or check in before booking.
Private workshop bookings
Most of our workshops are also available to book for: private get-togethers with family and friends; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and in-store retail events for your customers. If you’d like to know more please Email Lynn.
Age restrictions
Our workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied for insurance purposes. Please check with us before booking.

What does this course cover?
This is an online course for developing history leadership in primary teaching. This term, we will be piloting the course as an immersive programme covering the key elements of primary history subject leadership, enabling all involved in history leadership at primary to carry out their role effectively.
How is this course structured and delivered?
The course will take place in ten online sessions from January–May 2025. Sessions 1, 8 and 10 are compulsory to attend live. Participants will be required to complete a gap task after each session and contribute to an online reflection diary.
The other sessions will be recorded for participants to work through at their convenience, though participants are encouraged to attend the recording sessions live in order to make the most of the programme. All recordings will be made available on the course Moodle page within two working days of the live recording session.
Who is this course for? 
This programme is designed for anyone who is a subject coordinator or subject leader for history in their primary school. You may have just been appointed as a subject leader, or be more experienced but looking for formal training or fresh inspiration and direction.
What are the outcome?

How do I attend?

If you would like to add one or both of these kits to your classroom training option then these are available to add at time of booking. Our comprehensive training kits each mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video tutorials, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

Our Virtual Classroom option includes two very comprehensive training kits - one for your introductory course and one for your advanced course. Kits are included at no charge (normally £79.95 each) and are yours to keep and to continue to practice with after you have finished your courses. Our Route to Competency Masterclass - Live Blood Sessions can only be completed in a classroom environment. This is included when you book a classroom option. When booking the virtual classroom option you can choose to add this at time of booking. You will receive a voucher code to enable you to book onto any upcoming dates or locations. For most of our two day course we run our competency training at the end of the second day and therefore you should be able to complete your full training programme with us over two days.

Safely and competently set up and maintain a Peripheral IV Infusion.

IV Therapy and NMC guidelines.
M2 - Legal & Professional Responsibilities:
Legal Obligations and Accountability. Criminal, Civil and
Contractual law in Healthcare. Vicarious Liability and your
Duty of Care.
M3 - Anatomy & Physiology:
Sites appropriate to IV cannulation. Hand vs. arm.
Advantages and disadvantages of relevant veins.
An overview of Homeostasis and Fluid Balance.
M4 - Hygiene and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC):
Reducing healthcare-associated infections. Keeping Safe.
Bloodborne Pathogens and Work Practice Controls.
Standard Precautions. Waste Disposal. Needle-stick injuries.
M5 - Indications and Advantages:
When to cannulate, infusion types and benefits over
alternative infusion routes. Continuous and intermittent infusion.
Prophylactic use before procedures and in unstable patients.
Contraindications.
M6 - Equipment:
Cannula types, sizes and colour coding. How to select
appropriate size. Equipment overview for total procedure.
M7 - Vein Choice for Cannulation:
Correct vein selection. Which veins to avoid.
How to manage an unsuccessful cannulation.
M8 - Procedures:
Full procedure for cannulation including correct documentation.
M8: Guide to Cannulation - revision

M9 - Contraindications:
When inappropriate to cannulate including patients with specific health conditions.

A detailed look at potential complications during and after
