Introduction to Light Metering,how to use them.

Understanding light meters for film and digital.

Difference between incident and reflective metering, how a meter will make your lighting so much more precise.

Metering techniques for accurate exposure using t-stops.

Using a meter instead of "false colour"or a "histogram"is so much more precise.

"False colour"and "histograms",only give you an averaged exposure of the whole scene,they are not "zone specific".

Most lighting lesson,s on this course would be very hard to achieve without a "flat disc"on a meter.

As it is "zone specific"ie" it will read the actual "t"stop of the light falling on a person, with a flat disc

Why a correctly exposed colour chart,is so relevant .to today,s digital cinematography.

As you can communicate "the look"you want.

Lighting techniques for full-body green screen setups.

Using 180 degree cyc(what is that?)

With lighting grid,space light,s ,cyc lights,(what are they)

Preventing green screen "bounce back" using low-angle arms and other techniques.

To create "perfect"full bodied "green screen".

Lighting Towards Camera & Re-lighting Close-ups

Concept."lighting towards camera"and what that means?.

Reverse cross key lighting technique for indoor scenes.

How to re.set the hard key,s used in your master ,with soft light,s .to create a soft "wrap around key"and zero nose shadows.essential for every close up to make the images perfect.

It took me years to learn this.

To match the stop in the master within 1/10th of a stop accuracy/along with the same colour temp

A lighting plan allows you to work out your lighting on paper,the more detail,the easiest the actual lighting set up is.

You have calculated your t.stop.the gell,s for your light,s even before you have finished your coffee!.

The Goddess Hour 

This official BRCGS course enables participants with an in-depth understanding of the Standard in terms of the protocol, requirements and how to audit effectively. Participants will gain competency to assess compliance to the requirements of the Standard, including fundamental clauses, statements of intent, how to undertake a BRCGS audit, planning of the audit and reporting of the audit. Auditing fundamentals and techniques will be discussed including the auditor competency skills required of auditors auditing against Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognised certification programmes.Active learning will be used throughout the course utilising case study-based activities to encourage critical thinking and help explain how auditors with audit against the Standard. &nbsp;Participants must have a working knowledge of quality management systems and auditing within the relevant manufacturing sector, and have completed a hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) course of at least two days&#39; duration.In preparation for the course, participants must read and review a copy of the Standard including the glossary, which is available as a free download from the <a href="https://www.brcgs.com/store/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" style="color: inherit; -webkit-user-select: auto; font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: inherit;" fr-original-style=" color: inherit;">BRCGS Store</a>, in addition to the pre-course materials provided.&nbsp;At the end of the course you will be assessed with an exam. Course Summary

This official BRCGS Food Safety issue 9 Lead Auditor course enables participants with an in-depth understanding of the Standard in terms of the protocol, requirements and how to audit effectively. Participants will gain competency to assess compliance to the requirements of the Standard, including fundamental clauses, statements of intent, how to undertake a BRCGS audit, planning of the audit and reporting of the audit. Pre-requisites

To have a working knowledge of quality management systems and auditing within the relevant manufacturing sector

Aims
Participants will undertake a concise yet equally engaging training program covering all essential aspects of enforcing health and safety codes of practice at construction sites. About this training

In the UK, 11% of children are disabled and in England, 18.4% have special educational needs. Adding non-disabled siblings to these numbers increases this potential audience to a fifth of children in the UK. This simple fact is a powerful advocacy tool to make a business case for SEND inclusion in your museum.

One way to support SEND families during a visit is to create a sensory backpack. These resources don’t cost a lot to create, and they can make a powerful difference to a SEND family’s visit. Their economic impact, promoting a longer dwell time and potentially greater spend in the museum, pays back an initial investment quickly.

In this session, SEND in Museums Consultant Sam Bowen will guide you through how to create a sensory backpack, drawing on her own professional museum learning knowledge and lived experience as a parent of a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

During this virtual training event, we will:
· Understand the barriers SEND families face when visiting museums,
· Explore examples of best practice in museums for creating sensory backpacks, 
· Share top tips on how to create backpacks that are bespoke for your setting.

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, NON-FICTION

Siân Ellis-Martin joined Blake Friedmann in 2018 and is building a list of fiction and non-fiction at the agency. 

With regards to fiction, Siân is looking for commercial, upmarket and accessible literary novels. She always wants to be completely absorbed by the world of the novel, to jump into the character’s life and be swept into the narrative as if she’s been there all along. 
She’s drawn in by compelling characters and relationships, and loves stories with a mystery or question at the heart of them. 

She’s open to these ideas being explored in a variety of ways, but at the moment, she’d particularly like to find an epic love story, a fun, queer rom-com with an unusual setting or pitch, and/or a sweeping family saga. Siân leans more towards contemporary settings but does enjoy a historical backdrop too.

In non-fiction, she’s looking for narrative non-fiction, history from different perspectives and books that make complicated ideas around things like politics and literature more accessible. Her favourite type of non-fiction book is the one that makes you interested in something or someone you’d never thought you would be. Siân would also love to find cookery and food books too, particularly cuisines that are less visible in the book world, or budget cooking.

She’s not currently taking on YA, children’s, fantasy or science fiction projects.

Siân would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 - 2 page synopsis and the first three chapters (or 5,000 words, whichever is shorter) of your manuscript in a single word document.

Details 
Using pre-recorded training, interactive on-line content (through Padlet), self-directed learning and live events, this substantial and comprehensive blended training course keeps delegates interested, engaged and learning new ways to bring excellence to their 24-hour postural care provision and focuses on the often neglected lying position and how unsupported lying drives changes to a person's body shape which impacts sitting, standing and functional movement. 

You will have access to the online learning from 23rd April 2025 and be provided with all the information you will need to complete the course. At 1pm (BST) on 23rd April you will then join the trainers for an introductory event via Zoom to provide an outline of the training and to answer any questions you may have. Over the next few weeks you can access the pre-recorded training videos and interactive online content to enable you to complete the workbook. On 4th June 2025 there will be a series of live discussion events for the specific ages the course covers to assess your learning (you must attend at least one of these events - please see below for further information). 

Why? 
People with complex needs, deserve a thorough, co-ordinated 24-hour postural care service. We only get one body and yet people with complex disabilities don't always get the 'annual service' afforded the equipment they use.
Posture Positive report (2020) found training is a key aspect to developing resilient and robust 24-hour postural care for people with complex needs. Every person with complex needs or limited movement requires a comprehensive 24-hour postural care service delivered in a personalised way. 

Who? 
The course is suitable for specialist physiotherapists, specialist occupational therapists and other highly trained healthcare professionals working in health, SEN and social care. 
The course breaks down the life span of a person as follows:
0-3 years
Children and young people in education
Adults
Older people and palliative care

Each delegate selects the aspects of the course relevant to their particular area of practice whilst having access to all the course resources.
What? 

On completion of the course, it is hoped delegates will be equipped with the knowledge needed to deliver an outstanding, person-centred, 24-hour postural care service.

You can focus on one specific age group or take a general approach allowing you to adapt the course to meet your own learning objectives. 

On 4th June the final live review events with the trainers via Zoom are available for the specific ages that the course covers. You must attend at least one of these live discussion (the one most relevant to your practice) but you are welcome to join all four.

Dyslexia - What is Working Memory? Strategies to Support Memory

Master plant tinctures are sacred, natural extracts derived from powerful Amazonian plants, each carrying unique healing properties.

Instructions:
1. Dosage & Absorption
Empty Stomach for Optimal Absorption: Take your tincture on an empty stomach, ideally at least 30 minutes before eating or 2 hours after your last meal. This enhances absorption and allows the plant’s energy to work more directly.
Sublingual Method (Under the Tongue): Place the recommended number of drops directly under your tongue and hold them there for about 1-2 minutes before swallowing. This method allows the plant’s essence to enter your bloodstream more quickly and efficiently.
Swallowing & Following with Water: If needed, you can follow with a sip of water or herbal tea, but avoid strong flavours that might interfere with the plant’s subtle energy.
2. Dietary Considerations
Avoid heavy, overly processed, or highly stimulating foods (e.g., caffeine, sugar, alcohol, or spicy foods) before and after taking the tincture, as they may interfere with the plant’s effects.
Simple, grounding meals such as lightly cooked vegetables, whole grains, and herbal teas, support a clearer connection to the plant.
If fasting or eating lightly while working with the tincture, listen to your body’s signals and adjust as needed.
3. Setting an Intention
Focused Approach: Working with one plant tincture for 1-2 weeks with a clear intention allows for a deeper relationship with the plant’s wisdom. Reflect on what you’re calling in whether it’s emotional healing, clarity, protection, or insight.
Intuitive Use: While structured use can be powerful, you can also work with the tincture as needed, trusting your intuition to guide you. It is safe for daily use if you feel called to it.
Journaling & Reflection: Keeping a small journal can help you track any insights, shifts, or emotions that arise during your work with the plant.
4. Adapting the Experience to You
There’s no rigid rule - some people benefit from structured, intentional work, while others find a more fluid, intuitive approach works best.
Pay attention to how your body, emotions, and energy respond. If you feel resistance or discomfort, pause and reflect on what the plant might be showing you.
Trust your own process and know that the relationship with plant medicine is deeply personal.
