This course is aimed at anyone who has to undertake manual handling duties as part of their work routine, and will give the delegates a basic understanding of the correct manual handling techniques when moving, handling and lifting of loads. Carried out by qualified instructors, the Manual Handling Training course is designed to cover a number of Manual Handling topics. It will enable the candidate on completion to recognise a manual handling problem. It will give them the tools to be able to initiate a risk assessment and lift or carry in a safe manner. We can deliver these courses in-house or to gain Qualsafe certification. Fully Qualified and Highly Experienced Instructors. Half day course (2-3 Hours). Our courses include the following subject areas: The requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations. The legal requirements to provide Manual Handling Training. Principles of good movement. The anatomy of the spine. Manual Handling related injuries. Mechanics of incorrect and correct manual handling techniques. Practical exercises. Principles of manual handling techniques will include: The task. The load. The working environment. The individual capability. Practical applications of lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying. Risk Assessment and its practical application. There is a Maximum of up to 20 Candidates per Manual Handling training course, however we can run two courses per day with one manual handling instructor. We also have more manual handling instructors available, if it is required. This means we can run courses simultaneously should the facilities be available to do so. The course information is based on the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, amended 2002. It is also covered under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Manual Handling covers more than simply lifting or carrying something. The term is used to describe activities such as lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, moving, holding or restraining an object or person. It also covers activities that require the use of force or effort such as pulling a lever or operating power tools. The aim of the course is to provide a theoretical knowledge and the practical skills to recognise the risk of unsafe practices.

This one-day course is a must for all construction operatives! Not only is this a legal requirement under CDM 2015, but if your Company is accredited to CHAS or similar SSIP schemes you must be able to demonstrate that suitable training has been provided to your staff. The Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015 (CDM) sets the requirement for all workers to have the right skills, knowledge, training, and experience. Manual Handling full-day Train The Trainer course Aim of the course: To equip Team Leaders and Co-ordinators in Care Homes with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver engaging and safe manual handling training to their own staff — including practical techniques, training methods, and peer teaching practice. Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, delegates will be able to: Outline the legal and professional responsibilities related to manual handling in care. Identify manual handling risks and describe common injuries and incidents. Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques, including hoist use, slide sheets, and repositioning methods. Plan and structure a complete manual handling training session. Select and adapt training materials and equipment to suit different learners and settings. Deliver clear, confident explanations and demonstrations of manual handling techniques. Support learners during practical sessions, including correcting unsafe practice. Facilitate discussions and reflective learning with care staff. Evaluate learners’ understanding and performance through observation and questioning. Maintain accurate training records and identify when refresher training is needed. Deliver a short theoretical and practical training activity to peers, receiving feedback. Reflect on their own strengths and areas for development as a trainer.

The GWO Manual Handling course is a half day as either initial or refresher training.

This manual handling course is for businesses who have workers who are exposed to the dangers of manual handling. This course will fulfil requirements set out by the HSE to train staff on how to correctly handle items whilst lifting, pushing and pulling.
