About this training course Transmission lines and sub-stations are essential components in the electrical power systems. Proper design and maintenance are crucial for transmission lines to maintain a continuous operation. The objective of this 5-day training course is to deal appropriately with control systems, design characteristics and electric & magnetic fields. Participants will gain a better understanding on the corona and gap discharge phenomena, constructional features, and optimization of the transmission lines. He was formally the Engineering Manager at GE Canada in Ontario. He received his M.Sc. in electrical engineering from the University of New Brunswick and his MBA from Laurier School of Business in Waterloo. He has managed and executed more than 150 engineering projects on substation design EMF audits and power system studies and analyses, EMF audits and grounding audits, for major electrical utilities, mines, oil and gas, data centers, industrial and commercial facilities in Canada and the U.S. He is a certified professional engineer in the provinces of Ontario and Alberta. He has various IEEE publications, has served as a technical reviewer for many IEEE journals in power systems and control systems, and is the chair of the Industry Application Chapter (IAS) for IEEE Toronto Section. He remains a very active member for the IEEE substation committee of IEEE Std. 81 ground testing (WGE6) and IEEE Std. 80 ground design (WGD7). A certified electrical safety trainer by GE Corporate and a Canadian Standard Association (CSA) committee member at the mining advisory panel for electrical safety, he also taught many technical courses all over Canada to industrial customers, electrical consultants as well as to electrical utilities customers. Mobilising the wisdom and experiences of parents in a safe way is a delicate art. In this training we will explore how this can best be done. The approach is capacity focused, person centred approach to working with parents rather than the dominant deficit oriented and ‘medical model’ of viewing and planning for parents. We work with rather than do things to a group of parents. This training can be modelled with a group of parents or can be demonstrated with a group of professionals. We prefer mixed groups. An enriching and creative day led by artist and art educator Lucy Perry to immerse students in floral forms through expressive and painterly techniques. SATURDAY 17th May 2025 Beautiful Brusho Blooms: The day starts with looking at some artwork to inspire us and then some quick observational drawing exercises to get to know our glorious subject matter. Lucy will guide students through explorations of colourful blooms in Brusho watercolour dyes, creating vibrant and lively studies using expressive brushwork techniques, wax resist and dip pen with ink. As the day unfolds, students have the freedom to select a specific subject and method for more in-depth exploration. Who is this course for? Discovering with you that it is important to know the lines of the scene so well that they can become the least part of the work. In the UK the commonest cause of death among those aged 16-35 is suicide. Three men for every one woman kill themselves every year (Guardian, June 2006). 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence and 2 women a week are killed by a current or ex partner. Boys and men are a major concern. We need to find ways to allow them to unclench their hearts and learn to experience, process, communicate and manage their own emotional lives for their own and for the good of the wider community. The Flight Instructor Licence FI(R)(H) There is a shortage of Flight Instructors currently, so many commercial pilots train to be a flight instructor and get their first job teaching people to fly. The satisfaction of seeing a student’s enthusiasm as they learn to fly, coupled with knowing you are being paid to fly, is immense. Becoming a Flight Instructor is a challenge. The course begins with a pre-entry test to ascertain your flying abilities: after all, if you’re going to teach you need to have mastered the art of flying a helicopter. There are 125 hours of ground school and 35 hours of flight training. All of it is based around teaching a student to fly helicopters to gain their PPL(H). Good instructors understand how to make learning to fly safe and fun, bringing the classroom to the student, often 2500 feet in the air. The course is usually intense and held in small groups of 3 or 4. You will learn about the psychology of presenting information and how people learn. You will be taught how to measure how well a student is doing and what advice you can offer to help them achieve their dream of becoming a helicopter pilot. Throughout the course your instructor will be not only your teacher but a student to practice on, simulating a student pilot’s ability. You’ll be able to recognise common mistakes a student pilot makes, so you can correct them and teach them what works better. Giving lectures, briefing students and then taking them flying will become second nature as you learn to fly the helicopter and teach from the co-pilot's seat. Your final flight test will also be challenging as you brief your examiner and then teach the briefed exercise in the air. This will be followed by a number of further short impromptu lessons in the air, including an autorotational landing at the airfield. In the afternoon you’ll be asked to teach a range of subjects for four hours from the PPL syllabus, perhaps explaining cold fronts, how an altimeter works, rules of the air..........
