Aileen has built her medical practice as a doctor with an emphasis on health
rather than just disease. She has worked as a GP, as a Specialty doctor at the
NHS Centre for Integrative Care and at Bupa Health Assessment clinics. Alongside
her clinical work she sits on tribunals for disability benefits to ensure that
patients receive the help that they are entitled to. Her experience with working
with patients with chronic diseases has led to an understanding and empathy
towards those living with these conditions and the additional support that is
required. In recent years she has also become involved in medical education with
the hope of helping a new generation of doctors understand the changing
healthcare needs of our society and how to strive for health amidst illness and
disease. Aileen lives with her partner and 3 children. She is committed to
continue learning how to take care of her own health needs while working in a
demanding profession and balancing raising a family, understanding the demands
and barriers for change that we all experience. She personally practises
mindfulness and runs regularly to maintain her physical and mental wellbeing.
She is a believer that you have to practise what you preach and often shares her
own experiences and challenges with her patients to try and help improve
self-compassion, acceptance and make change achievable where possible.
