First Aid Basic Life Support course (Includes Adult, Child, Infant CPR & Use of an Automated External Defibrillator) Our First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides healthcare providers and public safety professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adult, child and infant patients. First Aid teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies.Students who successfully complete this course will receive certifications for Basic Life Support and First Aid. 03. People Movers Moving & Handling (Manual handling) This is a detailed classroom based training to enable trainees gain understanding of the process of lifting and moving loads within the health and social care industry.It will help trainees to identify risks and determine the safest method of handling without injury, in line with approved code of practice, accepted lifting methods, current regulations and understand the consequences of poor moving and handling practice. This course is intended for those new to training manual handling, or those wishing to update their skills. The course is aimed at employees within an organisation who have been tasked with training other colleagues in safe manual handling principles and covers safe manual handling techniques, manual handling risk assessment and training techniques

Clare and Lucia have worked together for over 25 years. They met in 2001, working at The Royal Brompton Hospital and are still both registered nurses. They created Red Kite Consultancy in 2021, where their focus is a shared enthusiasm for BLS & AED training. They are both trained instructors and the courses they provide are CPD certified. They train healthcare professionals and the public and believe that everyone should have the skills to perform effective Basic Life Support and the confidence to use an AED.  The course they designed in line with the Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines includes; * Managing an emergency * Assessment of an unconscious casualty * Basic Life Support (BLS) * AED Training * Post Resuscitation Care Course duration: 2 hours (dependant on group size and any requested additional course content).

Osburn Training Academy is proud of the rich heritage surrounding the Osburn name. Having completed her studies under Florence Nightingale, Lucy Osburn was chosen to travel to Australia where she redefined the approach to nursing practice, her compassionate approach, impeccable nursing standards and pioneering drive inspired us to continue her legacy through training and educating others. In March 1868, Lucy-Osburn, with five other nursing sisters, arrived in Sydney to take charge of the Infirmary. They were sent by Florence Nightingale in answer to an appeal from Henry Parkes, Premier of New South Wales. A week later they had a royal patient, when the Duke of Edinburgh was wounded by a would-be assassin at Clontarf. But in spite of the public acclaim this brought them, Lucy Osburn and her staff faced a long fight with prejudice and ignorance in their efforts to reform the infirmary. The idea of gentlewomen working as hospital nurses was still novel, and to many people shocking; Lucy Osburn own father had turned her portrait to face the wall when she entered the Nightingale College of Nursing. Thwarted at every turn by suspicion and jealousy, even among the doctors, and by an inefficient system of management, Lucy Osburn battled on undaunted, for 16 years and eight months. Most of the Lucy Osburn sisters took up positions as matrons at various hospitals. By these means the Nightingale teaching and standards became accepted practice in the hospital system of the colony. By the time she returned to England she had laid the foundation of modern nursing in New South Wales, and Sydney Hospital was launched on its long and distinguished career of service to the community. After some years nursing among the sick and poor in London, Lucy died of diabetes at her sister’s home in Harrogate in 1891.

Turnhouse Golf Course came into being in 1897, initially only extending to nine holes, when members of Lothian golf club (established 1893) became dissatisfied of sharing Musselburgh Links with other non-course owning Clubs. Recognising the value for ease of access of a recently built Railway halt in those days of largely horse-drawn transport, they leased land from the tenant of Turnhouse farm. The venture was so successful in attracting more members that in 1898 the land now occupied by the car park and Clubhouse was bought, and what later became the greenkeepers’ buildings were used used as a temporary clubhouse where tea ‘in the large upper room’ could be had ‘for sixpence plain, with cold meat, one shilling.’. Work to extend the course to eighteen holes was completed by June 1900.
