THIS REFRESHER COURSE IS ONLY OPEN TO DELEGATES WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED A GEOPACE TRAINING VACCINATION / INJECTION COURSE (THEORY AND PRACTICAL) OR A LEVEL 4 VACCINATION COURSE FROM ANOTHER APPROVED PROVIDER.

Award Level: Level Four (Foundation Degree)

Minimum Age: 18 (16 with parental consent)

Entry requirements: None. English Level 2 desirable

This Vaccination Refresher Course recaps on your theory training and awards you an updated certificate and also updates your registration. You will receive 3 credits (Level 4 - FDSc) which are cumulative, therefore you will have a total of 6 OCN credits for vaccination training.

PART 1 - THEORY (online)

Delegates will fully understand the theory and will be able to demonstrate they can identify the correct patient, gain consent and safely administer a vaccine to WHO and Skills for Health recommended standards.

M06 The immune system and how vaccines work. Vaccine types and composition.

M07 The National Vaccine Policy & Schedule

M08 Vaccine preventable diseases

M08A – Covid-19 Update

M09 Vaccines - understanding the reconstitution process

M10 Storage and Handling – understanding correct procedures and protocols

M11 Equipment – Syringes and Syringe Types, Needles and Needle Types, SDV (Single-Dose Vials), MDV (Multi-Dose Vials), Pre-Filled Syringes, Gloves and PPE.

M12 Vaccination sites, techniques and anatomical site selection

i) Intramuscular (IM) Injection

ii) Subcutaneous (SubCut) Injection

iii) Intradermal (ID) Injection

M13 Legal requirements, Consent and Standard Operating Procedures

M14 Adverse Reactions and Basic Life Support Guidance

M15 Record keeping & Documentation

OPTIONAL PART 2 - PRACTICAL TRAINING

3 - 4 hours skill-set development with practical demonstrations and hands-on experience performing Intramuscular, Intradermal and Subcutaneous Injections. Practise@Home Training Kit available when adding this option.

PART 1 (THEORY) - STUDY AT HOME ONLINE :

Complete your theory training online in the comfort of your own home or at work. Stop/start when it suits you and complete the online modules at your own pace. Can be completed on multiple devices such as laptop, smart-phone, desktop computer, kindle, tablet etc.

PART 2 (PRACTICAL SESSION) - OPTIONAL

Full video link instructions will be provided. You will follow your tutor's on-screen instructions as you learn and develop your vaccination skills. The procedures and practices taught online are exactly the same as you would learn in the classroom.
