<p>Ruth has over twenty years of Wood Carving and Pyrography experience and will guide you step by step to create a 2d Relief Carving on a solid piece of Local Wood using traditional gouged and mallets or a design drawn and burnt into the wood.<br />The workshop will take place in an outdoor studio space set on the grounds of the 48 acres Birtley Estate.</p>
<p>Be inspired by Ruth's carved and pyrographed pieces and the surrounding landscape or bring a sketch or your own design.</p>
<p>Ruth will guide you through the stages and traditional techniques used to create an art piece or a sign. You will learn how to finish off and protect your work for both indoor or outdoor display.</p>
<p>We have multiple dates for this workshop available throughout the year, perfect for those who wish to return and add more detail into the carving or would like to work on a more ambitious piece that may take more than one day to complete!</p>
<p>You will leave this workshop with knowledge and confidence in the techniques and tools used to be able to continue carving at home if desired.</p>

<p class="font_7">Ruth and Lauren would like to invite you to join them for the day in the beautiful private grounds of the Birtley Estate for a Women's Woodland Retreat Day - Finding your inner goddess or a soulful journey connecting to your inner goddess.<br /><br />Ruth with guide you through a Nia Somatic movement/dance routine called Soul that connects you to the earth and your inner spirit which will begin our journey unleashing your true self and finding that inner goddess in you. Lying on the floor surrounded by nature we will slip into a deep relaxation followed by Lauren taking us on a guided meditation around the lake and through the forest to connect to Mother Earth and her healing.</p>
<p class="font_7">We will venture along the forest path and look within to bring life to our Inner Goddess. We will awaken her from her slumber and free her from the depths of our minds, to release her being onto this World.</p>
<p class="font_7">Ruth will guide you to create your own clay goddess while we talk with each other and connect to the grounding nature of the earth element.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_7">We will break for lunch and quiet time or time for a little walk.&nbsp;<br /><br />There is no experience needed as your Inner Goddess will guide your way and will support you in choosing the most beneficial and supportive crystal.<br /><br />After lunch, we may practise Yin Yoga and lie back for a Yoga Nidra in the wild.&nbsp;</p>
<p class="font_7">Lauren will teach you how to call upon her when needed and show you what your inner goddess can do for you in all areas of your life. We will take time to get to know her and how she can aid us.<br /><br />Once we have met our inner goddess, we will take time to get to know and discuss how crystals can work hand in hand with our Inner Goddess. Our bodies and subconscious will work as one and we will discuss how we can learn to trust in this and our Inner Goddess when making decisions and helping us live our best life. You will have the opportunity to choose a crystal that resonates with you to take home.</p>
<p class="font_7">We will break for Tea and Essential Oil snacks followed by an essential oil workshop which leads onto our final celebration with Lauren where we will join her Inner Goddess Fire Ceremony where we will enjoy a magical Cacao Elixir. Here we will once again go on a meditation journey with our Inner Goddess and meet Mama Cacao. The messages and the sensations we feel on these journeys are sacred &ndash; we will take the time to write our messages of hope, belief and growth and we will use the energy of the fire to put these out to the Universe. Come to a life drawing class like no other using neon reactive arts materials to draw inspiringly colourful life models.</p>
<p>Neon Naked will continue Covid protection actions. Changes to the workshop will be a smaller capacity, social distancing within the class, and hand sanitiser provided. If a lockdown is extended and the events are cancelled all tickets will be refunded.</p>
<p>Classes are from 6 PM to 7:30 PM and 8 PM to 9:30 PM.</p>

<p>This class explores creative drawing, moving away from the perfectionist traditional teachings of life drawing. By trying out several different image-making techniques from continuous line drawing to pointillism the artists are encouraged to think outside the box and create more unusual imagery.</p>
<p>As described in TimeOut Magazine as 'It might look like a Full Moon party, but this evening of sketching is an experiment in light, colour, and texture. The models become &lsquo;living sculptures&rsquo; covered in UV lights and reactive body paints. Trippy.'</p>
<p>Neon Naked is a unique life drawing experience that specializes in creating unusual and creative designs by using vibrant and bold living sculptures. By combining UV light and reactive body paints with hand-crafted flamboyant accessories it's easy to get the creative juices flowing.<br /><br /></p>
<p>The class starts with some quick and fun drawing exercises to get you warmed up. Then goes into longer drawing times with more exciting life images, experimenting with colour, light, and texture.</p>

<p>Join Artist, Yoga and Nia Teacher Ruth Wheeler and other inspiring Women outdoors for a series of Summer Wellness Workshops and talks.</p>
<p>Sitting and walking outside we will be inspired by the nature that surrounds us, the trees, woodland and lake views give us the perfect opportunity to feel connected to nature and do a spot of forest bathing to foster our creative souls.</p>
<p>The first of our series will be themed around the Earth Goddess and Ruth will lead this session through a beautiful mindful walk and Yoga-nia Practice connecting you with your inner goddess. Gather around the fire pit with clay from the earth and we will create a goddess that speaks to us through our experience. We will each create her own natural perfume from the "gifts of the earth" with pure and potent essential oils that can be used on your skin or as a natural diffuser. You will then be guided through a visualisation lying on the forest or lakeside floor.</p>
<p>Each session will follow a similar pattern and will incorporate a mindful walk around the estate, we will dance, practise Yoga or have a creative session with intention followed by a gathering around the fire circle with a cuppa. Ruth or a guest female speaker/artist will share something special and we will finish with a guided meditation or mindfulness session.</p>

An Inspiring Practical Day Learning Seamless Felt Making with Margaret Maunder.
This workshop gives you a full day practicing and learning how textile teacher and Textile Artist Maker Margaret Maunder develops and creates her beautiful felt pieces and how you can easily do this yourself or with your students:)
We are thrilled to have Margaret join us to lead this workshop. She brings her experience both as a felt designer/maker and textiles teacher, developing this inspiring practical course, especially for teachers who are new to the Art Textiles GCSE specification and those who wish to experiment more widely with a variety of new techniques, processes and contexts. The course will explore a range of interpretations, providing the opportunity to develop ideas through the use of materials, techniques and processes. 




SEAMLESS FELT MAKING
This is a practical day working with merino wool tops to create a seamless felted bag. The course is aimed at anyone interested in learning this great technique and particularly good for Textile and Art teachers who are either new to, or experienced with textiles teaching. 
You will spend the day creating different felt samples, then learn how to create and make a felt bag with four layers around a plastic resist. The techniques taught are also good for garments and hats.
Learn and practice new and exciting skills that will enhance your teaching.
Develop felting skills which link to artists and designers.
Practice and learn how to make felt balls, cords, pre-felts and trappings.
How to card wools with brushes and a drum carder to blend colours.
Make a felt bag which has four layers, two for the design and two for the lining.
Suitable for all skill levels, even if you are a complete beginner. 
Please note: Wet felting is fun and does involve soapy bubbles, water and some elbow grease, so be prepared roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!
All felting materials and use of equipment are provided as part of the course alongside handout notes to help you continue to enjoy your chosen felt projects in future.

Light refreshments of tea, coffee & biscuits are provided. Please bring along a pack lunch, water proof apron and a camera to help you record your work stages.

The seamless bag allows you to create a final piece which involves no sewing. The techniques are adaptable to a range of products. Course Developer and Leader: MARGARET MAUNDER
Margaret has 35 years' experience as a textile teacher. She has taught Art & Design Textiles at GCSE and A level with AQA and Pearson Edexcel. 
She is also an A level Art & Design moderator, Head of Textiles at St Catherines School, Bramley and has taught both Art & Design and Design Technology Textiles, her students achieving grades at GCSE 100% 7-9 and A*-B at A level. 
Margaret is a textile artist in her own right with a studio at home, where she develops her own pieces and teaches one-to-one classes and studio experiences for students.

We teach over 45 different paper craft and mixed media techniques. Each course is carefully constructed to help you develop your crafting skills and knowledge. 
Crafting and our courses are mindful, taking us away from the day-to-day. Participants have consistently reported improvements in their wellbeing. Anyone who wants to learn new skills can join our programmes. No previous experience of papercrafting or mixed media work is needed. We have delivered courses successfully in Cambridgeshire for 6 1/2 years and have worked with 280 Cambridges residents during this time. 86% of participants state that what we offer has helped to improve their wellbeing. 75% state that it has made a positive difference to their daily lives.

A standalone 10-week quilling course - 2 hours per week online with daytime and evening options - that will introduce you to the materials, tools, and techniques used in quilling and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors.   At the end of each session you will have a lovely quilled item to show family and friends or to display on your shelf!  All materials and equipment needed will be supplied and are yours to keep. This course is helpful for those for whom English is not their native tongue as there is a lot of repetition of basic terms including numbers, colours and directions.

A great opportunity to discuss the A-Level ESA (Externally Set Assignment) with fellow teachers and how best to approach the themes. We will be using breakout rooms for each board, so that you can network and discuss ideas and best practice.
The session will be lead by Becci Upton and Rachel Addy
This free event focuses on this year's Externally Set Assignment briefs for the A-LEVEL Fashion & Textiles courses. It is an opportunity for you to not just to learn from others, but also to contribute to a really collaborative environment, where everyone is able to take something helpful back to their respective students and schools. 
We are not specialists in each of the different exam boards and we recommend that you refer to your own board's latest official guidance for the most accurate and up-to-date information. To maximise our time together, we will be organising four breakout rooms, for AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas. You need to have your ESA briefs accessible, to have already read this and perhaps some ideas ready to contribute to the groups collective mind mapping.
This is a precious time for everyone to share experiences and gather inspiration.
