Live via Zoom. Fortnightly - 1/15/29 Oct, 12/26 Nov, 10 Dec - 6-8pm UK time Join artist Julie Galante for this course designed to nurture your creative practice. Together we’ll explore ways to create work that reflects your individual interests, passion, and point of view, no matter your experience level. The course content is delivered over six live Zoom sessions, in a small, welcoming group with plenty of opportunities for interaction. Additionally, there will be optional (but highly recommended) assignments to complete in between the live sessions - assignments designed to get you stuck in to your creative practice in new and interesting ways. During each live session, there will be a demonstration focusing on a particular aspect of visual art - this will include various materials, subjects, and considerations such as composition, theme, mark-making, layering, and so on. We will also have a look at everyone’s recent creations, with celebration of the triumphs and suggestions for moving forward with work-in-progress. Together we’ll explore techniques including drawing, painting, mixed-media, and collage, but you don’t have to work exclusively in these media to take part - all creative disciplines are welcome. Each participant will be encouraged to deepen their explorations in whatever direction interests them most - be it a series of drawings, written reflections, sketches, collages, photographs, mixed-media pieces, or a unique, personal combination of all these. There will be an optional Facebook group for participants to stay connected and share their creations with each other between sessions. There will also be discounts available for other workshops and one-to-one mentoring.

In this course we will be combining my passions of Qigong and Breathwork to help bring us into balance so we can move though Autumn into winter full of peace and vitality. Why Qigong and Breathwork? Qigong is breathwork (Qi is Breath), it is an amazing way of opening and clearing the body, of making space for our healthy energy to flow. It allows us to stay relaxed and receptive without forcing or pushing. It is easy to learn and naturally attuned to your individual body and how it wants to expand, release and recharge. Breathwork is simply bringing our conscious attention to our breath and is one of the most powerful ways we have to change our state at any given moment. In the course i will introduce you to eight different breath techniques to help you to breathe better. Commit to just 10mins a day and you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve. A standalone 10-week quilling course - 2 hours per week online with daytime and evening options - that will introduce you to the materials, tools, and techniques used in quilling and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors. At the end of each session you will have a lovely quilled item to show family and friends or to display on your shelf! All materials and equipment needed will be supplied and are yours to keep. This course is helpful for those for whom English is not their native tongue as there is a lot of repetition of basic terms including numbers, colours and directions.

Want to make electric lamps, but not sure about the wiring, regulations and so on? If you can make the lamp base (in clay, wood, glass metal or whatever), then this course tells you how to do the rest.

Millie is thrilled to be building the children’s illustrated division at RCW and is actively looking for authors and illustrators of picture books, chapter books, young fiction, graphic novels and is particularly interested in children’s non-fiction presented in any guise. Millie loves working collaboratively with authors and illustrators whether it’s brainstorming a title, building a portfolio, trying out new genres and age groups or simply chatting ideas through. She relishes the opportunity to champion the work of illustrators and authors alike and is open to anything from 0-9 whether texts, illustrations or both. She loves anything with strong and engaging characters at its heart, quirky stories, and books that make you laugh and/or books that can make you laugh while you learn… Apart from the ever enduring and absolute classics like Quentin Blake’s Mrs Armitage, Millie has recently enjoyed Mariajo Ilustrajo’s Lost, Ed Vere’s The Artist, The Secret Beast Club (Robin Birch and Jobe Anderson), Dave Pigeon (Swapna Haddow and Sheena Dempsey), How to Be A Genius Kid (Jim Smith) and anything by Lauren Child. Among many other talents, Millie represents Swapna Haddow, Zehra Hicks, Sandra Dieckmann, Jobe Anderson, Marilyn Esther Chi, Emma Clarke, Jim Smith, Gabriella Szendrey, Helen and Thomas Docherty. Millie would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 page synopsis and the opening three chapters (max 5,000 words) of your novel. For picture books please send up to three texts split into 12 spreads each and a covering letter. For non-fiction please supply a cover letter and proposal with up to 5,000 words of your sample text. Please send EITHER picture books OR another genre, not both in one submission.
