This involved forward modelling of P- and S-waves diffracted around the core-mantle boundary and comparison of the frequency-dependent attenuation of the signal with those obtained from major earthquakes observed at long offsets in the &ldquo;shadow zone&rdquo; of the core. These observations were then translated into rock properties of the D&rdquo; transition zone.After his PhD, he joined Shell Research in The Netherlands to develop methods to predict lithology and pore-fluid based on seismic, petrophysical and geological data. He subsequently worked for Shell in London to interpret seismic data from the Central North Sea Graben. As part of the Quantitative Interpretation assignment, he was also actively involved in managing, processing and interpreting Offshore Seismic Profiling experiments.After his return to The Netherlands, he headed a team for the development of 3D interpretation methods using multi-attribute statistical and pattern recognition analysis on workstations. After a period of Quality Assurance of &ldquo;Contractor&rdquo; software for seismic processing, he became responsible for Geophysics in the Shell Learning Centre. During that period, he was also a part-time professor in Applied Geophysics at the University of Utrecht.From 2001 to 2005, he worked on the development of Potential Field Methods (Gravity, Magnetics) for detecting oil and gas. In this fun workshop you’ll be making a beautiful felted landscape picture in your choice of colours and designs.

Debbie will be demonstrating some simple felting and embellishing techniques and showing you how to create your landscape. You can bring a photograph or picture of your favourite landscape, create a scene from your imagination or use one of Debbie’s range of pre-drawn templates. Choose your gorgeous wool fibres and threads to make your own design. Embellish with stitch, beads and threads if you wish and take home your lovely felted landscape picture at the end of the day.

Course level:
This event is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to brush up their skills or just enjoy a couple of hours making a lovely felted landscape!

What you will learn:
How to set up your space, what equipment and materials you will use and how to prepare your fibre for felting
The essential principles of wet-felting – what types of felting methods there are, what fibres you can felt and how the fibres are used.
How to create a 2D piece of felt, working with colours, layering and pattern.
Adding embellishments.
Finishing your landscape with stitching and other techniques

You will need:
Nothing! Debbie will provide a wide range of coloured fibres, threads and embellishments. All the equipment and materials are also included so just bring yourself!

Debbie loves to teach and has been a felter for over 20 years so you'll be able to pick her brains for tips, tricks and hacks! Debbie's sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.

Debbie has been a textile artist for over 30 years. Debbie teaches wet and needle-felting, nuno felting and mixed media textiles. Debbie is the author of 5 internationally published books, Hand-Dyed Yarn Craft Projects, Complete Knitting Skills, 250 Knitting Stitches, Knitting.Learn it.Love it and How to Knit.

When she's not felting, dyeing, designing, knitting or crocheting, you'll find her in the garden, tending her dyeplants, enjoying a nice craft beer or hugging a big mug of builders' tea. And if you're out and about, she can often be found in the mosh pit at a gig or enjoying some folk music!

We use a natural living moss base and foraged foliage, as well as dried wildflowers and seedheads I've grown and collected, to create beautiful and unique wild wreaths. The base can be reused every season to create more lovely wreaths, as wreaths are not just for Christmas! Plenty of hot drinks, mulled wine and festive homemade cakes will be available throughout. Please bring your own secateurs if you have some.

During this two-hour session you will learn how to get the best possible print from the extensive collection of hand carved Indian Blocks I have in my workshop.&nbsp;
I will provide plenty of blocks to get your imagination running, this is an easy craft and ideal for everyone young and old and for any reluctant crafters, it makes for a fun activity for a party or gathering.&nbsp; You will print up a plain item or two to take home and I always have a wide range of textile paint to help you on the way.&nbsp;
You will go home with a completed item or perhaps two which are fully machine washable.&nbsp;
Refreshments are provided and I have a stock of new blocks and paints to purchase if you get bitten by the block printing bug.&nbsp;

Discernment is not something that we ‘do’ at certain moments of decision in life. Rather it is the stance we should assume in every aspect of life and can be articulated in the question ‘how am I centred and responsive to God?’
As course leaders and people responsible for the formation of spiritual directors, we need to be aware of our own discernment processes if we are to enable others to grow in their ability to discern well. The practice of mindful stargazing is about immersing yourself in the experience of the night time and developing a first-hand, experiential knowledge of what it is not to look out at the Universe, but to &lsquo;be&rsquo; in this vast Universe of ours. During the evening we&rsquo;ll be exploring a variety of mindful stargazing practices, focussing on contemplating our place within the cosmos and our connections to it &ndash; scientifically, energetically and spiritually.&nbsp;Before going outside, we&rsquo;ll practice a cosmic body scan, sensing different parts of our body and how they&rsquo;re made of stuff that was produced in stars billions of years ago. Then as we go outdoors, we&rsquo;ll spend some time immersing ourselves in the experience of the night sky as it is (clear or cloudy), and explore how we can feel part of the cosmos, at home in this vast universe of ours. Mark Westmoquette is an ex-professional astronomer with 10 years

Helen is a qualified solicitor with a diverse professional background spanning leadership roles in both the legal and tech/corporate sectors. Throughout her career, she has held key positions such as COLP, HOLP, MLCO, MLRO and DPO for law firms and various regulated businesses and services.
Helen’s specialised areas encompass AML, complaint and firm negligence handling, DPA compliance, file review and auditing, law management, and operational effectiveness in law firms, particularly in conveyancing (CQS).
