Take an old sweater and breathe some new life into it with free rein to delve into the stitching kitchen stash and box for christmas embellishments.
You could applique onto your jumper or stitch on beads, sequins and buttons to create a christmas jumper to make your colleagues friends and family jealous.
Full instruction and support are provided throughout the workshop, tea and cake is served to keep you fuelled.

Starting with a photo or perhaps sketching a sea scape for yourself we will cut out pieces of fabric from the Stitching Kitchen Stash and apply them to the background using a combination of iron on adhesive and stitch. Further embellishment using a variety of threads and beads, buttons and sequins can be added using a sewing machine, you can use your machine for standard sewing or free motion as you wish.&nbsp;
The finished piece can be framed to hang on a wall or incorporated into another project.&nbsp;
Your tutor will be Hannah, the owner of Stitching Kitchen. She set up the business in 2017 to share her passion and skills in all things involving textiles, fabric and threads. Her courses are relaxed and fun, they are held in her Stitching Kitchen in Brackley, Northants where she provides a range of teas, coffee and homemade cakes.

This workshop is a slow and steady mindful stitching class where we will use linen and wool fabrics to create an appliqu&eacute; design of your choice. &nbsp;Using a range of simple but effective embroidery stitches in thicker thread to stand out with the woollen fabrics.This class is suitable for all and will allow us all to slow down, appreciate the fabrics and thread and put our busy lives aside for a few hours. &nbsp;Linen and wool are my favourite fabrics to hand stitch with.Your design may not be complete at the end of the session but you can take away all you need in terms of materials and knowledge to complete your textile art at home. &nbsp;You can frame your creation or use in a cushion or to decorate a bag. &nbsp;As always tea, cake are included in the workshop price along with all materials and tuition.&nbsp;

Get started with some simple exercises and then practice the technique to develop confidence in free motion stitching.

Free Motion & Machine Embroidery

A Christmas theme free motion embroidery workshop - drawing on the sewing machine to create Christmas themed appliqué designs. 

Free Motion Embroidery for Christmas

This ongoing course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine. &nbsp; Over 6 sewing sessions with some homework you will create this&nbsp;fabulous &#39;Tea with Penelope&#39; quilt by Living in Loveliness finished size 42 x 42 inches. [105 x 105 cm]. You will have the pattern to keep (RRP &pound;9.99) with instructions and colour photos.&nbsp;
Once you have booked on I will give you the shopping list (don&#39;t forget you can also shop from your stash and/or wardrobe) with instructions on what fabrics to buy. &nbsp;If you need any guidance feel free to call or drop into the studio. &nbsp;You will also need a quarter inch presser foot for your sewing machine.&nbsp;
Initially we will learn how to cut accurately using the rotary cutter and rulers. &nbsp;Then moving on to creating the blocks. &nbsp;Then piecing the quilt top. &nbsp;Once all that cutting and stitching is done we will create a quilt sandwich and quilt using the machine. &nbsp;&nbsp;Last but not least we will learn how to attach and finish the binding. &nbsp;

Every session will be held in the sewing studio upstairs at Stitching Kitchen, we will stop for a cuppa and cake half way through. &nbsp;
I can&rsquo;t wait to get started and see how you get along with your Tea with Penelope quilt.&nbsp;

Join us over 5 weekly sessions to make this quilt top, you will need to do some homework to get finished but you will learn how to make each area of the quilt with guidance from Janine from Fat Quarter Quilting who is also the designer of this quilt.

This quilt is designed to showcase fussy-cut fabric pieces that are appliquéd onto the quilt blocks. The intricate details are achieved by using larger appliqué pieces, keeping the overall process simple and beginner-friendly. Each week, we will focus on different techniques and blocks to build your quilt step-by-step.
Over the five three hour sessions you will learn how to applique, create flying geese,  corner stones, triangle blocks, piano keys border.  Janine will also guild you on to adjusting your borders to make your quilt balanced.

Once you have finished the quilt top you can either quilt on your domestic machine - we can support you with this.   Alternatively you could take advantage of Janine's long arm quilting services. 
A materials list will be provided on booking. 

Every session will be held in the sewing studio upstairs at Stitching Kitchen, we will stop for a cuppa and cake half way through.

Harriet Riddle is a performance textile artist, join Harriet at Stitching Kitchen for a day of textile art using free machine embroidery. &nbsp;She describes her work:&nbsp;"I transport my sewing machine to public places to draw in stitch. Observing the surroundings and people, I create a narrative of my experience. Using a sewing machine on a train, in a laundrette or by a bus stop, I become a public installation. I empathise with the objects and people: they become caricatures of my imagination as I create their story. The experience I gain from interaction with the environment feeds in to my stitching and enriches the narrative. Snatches of conversation and scraps of material are woven into the piece."During the day you will develop your skills with Free Motion Embroidery. &nbsp;Our aim is to become confident to draw with your sewing machine like a pen.
