About Engaging Dementia
Engaging Dementia is the registered charity which provides bespoke training for those who care for people living with dementia in nursing homes, day centres, hospitals or the family home, in Ireland. Our mission is to improve communication, engagement and connection for people living with dementia and their carers through education, resources and community activities. Engaging Dementia offers dementia- specific training to nurses, professional carers, activity co-ordinators and occupational therapists, including the Sonas programme. We also provide educational sessions for family carers and family members of people living with dementia, to help them understand how to improve their communication with their loved ones and how to engage them in every-day activities. Engaging Dementia is involved in a range of dementia- friendly and dementia- inclusive activities in the community, including the Irish Dementia Cafe Network. Our annual dementia conference, now in its 14th year, is the largest in Ireland.
