Learning to decipher tone and colour value is key when drawing flowers, where do the lights and darks fall? any transparency on the petals? any changes in texture?

Sometimes its hard to see with colour involved! So in this video I have chosen to focus on highlights using white pastel, to simplify the shapes and really work out the tonal values first before we move on to colour. Being able to identify where the lightest parts of an object are is a vey useful exercise, drawing in negative. Using a larger scale makes it easier to draw, and encourages you to be bold!
