I offer private and group sessions of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) as a certified Guide. We’ll merge with the beauty of nature in Edinburgh area embracing Japanese rituals of the Yamabushi Shamans and practicing Forest Bathing. If you have ever been among trees in a woodland, listening to the birds, walking, or simply searching for some silence, you have already experienced the Japanese practice of shrin-yoku or forest bathing. In Japanese, “shinrin” means forest and “yoku” means bath, or immersing oneself in the forest and soaking in the atmosphere through the senses. Breathing deeply and finding peace in nature has a massive positive role on your body and mind. Plants release substances from their leaves that are effective in positively stimulating the immune system, as many studies have proved. Forgetting your mobiles and usual busy schedule, in the magic atmosphere of nature , you will take this time off for yourself only to re-build and re-create the cycle that naturally links human beings with nature as a part of the whole. It will be your slowing down time to re-connect literally with your roots.  Some time of digital detoxing will help you to pay attention to your breath, to use all of your senses, to meditate while walking, to dance freely, to stay silent. When did you last touch a tree trunk, or notice the symphony of animals and leaves dancing around you? We will create our sacred space in this time of reconnection with a shamanic ceremony . In this ceremony, you will receive guidance, healing and inspiration, you will learn how to create an altar, smudging with burning sacred herbs, calling the seven directions and then receiving your talking stick to share your heart with your close beautiful circle of souls for this circle. A ceremony is spontaneous, a ceremony is unique, a ceremony is a direct connection with the spirits of the land.  Think about what you need to re-create in your life. Think about what you want to re-connect with along your path. Ask for guidance and the fairies will answer, they always do. Sessions normally last at least 120min plus the walking time to enter the woodland and the current price is for 1-1. Private groups will receive a bespoke quote. About this Training Course More energy companies today are setting ambitious net-zero targets and are expected to pour billions into the voluntary carbon offset market by the end of this decade. To get to net zero emissions, companies will need to balance emissions with nature and technology-based offsets. Markets are the best tool for connecting carbon sources and sinks. Many countries will not have enough supply inside their borders and will need to co-operate with those who have extra greenhouse gas removal potential. The energy industry is in search of effective climate tools as pressure mounts from investors and consumers for more progress on fighting rising emissions. Corporations fighting to cut their carbon footprint have for years focused on internal reduction measures. Many are now adding to that effort by turning to carbon credits, a process made easier as verification and registration tools mature. One particular category of carbon offsets leads the way: high-quality, nature-based carbon credits. These represent the largest category of carbon credit projects in the voluntary carbon market, comprising nearly half of credits issued. Public concern about this practice focused on the additionality, leakage, and integrity of carbon offsets that are created through reforestation, land preservation, carbon capture and other projects. Lack of standardization and government regulation has also increased uncertainty for all participants in carbon markets, creating risks for developers of credit-generating projects and offset purchasers. Demand for higher-quality offsets will value projects that were subjected to due diligence and rely upon reputable third-party verification. Companies purchasing offsets generated by permanent and quantifiable projects will therefore be in the best position moving forward. He has a strong expertise in all the aspects of (energy) commodity markets, international sales, marketing of services, derivatives trading, staff training and risk management within dynamic and high-pressure environments. He received a Master's degree in Law from the University of Utrecht in 1987. He started his career at the NLKKAS, the Clearing House of the Commodity Futures Exchange in Amsterdam. After working for the NLKKAS for five years, he was appointed as Member of the Management Board of the Agricultural Futures Exchange (ATA) in Amsterdam at the age of 31. While working for the Clearing House and exchange, he became an expert in all the aspects of trading and risk management of commodities. In 1997, he founded his own specialist-consulting firm that provides strategic advice about (energy) commodity markets, trading and risk management. He has advised government agencies such as the European Commission, investment banks, major utilities and commodity trading companies and various energy exchanges and market places in Europe, CEE countries, North America and Asia. Some of the issues he has advised on are the development and implementation of a Risk Management Framework, investment strategies, trading and hedging strategies, initiation of Power Exchanges (APX) and other trading platforms, the set-up of (OTC) Clearing facilities, and feasibility and market studies like for the Oil, LNG and the Carbon Market. The latest additions are (Corporate) PPAs and Artificial Intelligence for energy firms. He has given numerous seminars, workshops and (in-house) training sessions about both the physical and financial trading and risk management of commodity and carbon products. The courses have been given to companies all over the world, in countries like Japan, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, India, Belgium and the Netherlands. Mosaic Summer School

This workshop gives you the unique opportunity to experience the basics of two crafts in 1 day in your own personal workshop with one to one tuition. The studios are located in the cottage garden of our home on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. Your experience is private to you and there will be no other students in the studios. The "2 crafts in 1 day" workshop is aimed at those who want to have a go at both of these fun crafts, and come away having learnt some basic techniques for both disciplines. As this is basically a private tuition experience, the course is focused but fun, so would make a fantastic gift. The day can also be experienced by two people (to book this, please refer to our other workshop ""2 Crafts in 1 Day!" 1-2-1 woodturning & pottery experience in 1 day for 2 people" where each person could experience the crafts singularly or together.  This makes for a wonderful Valentine's or anniversary experience, and can also be enjoyed by a parent and child. The morning is spent learning the ropes of woodturning - how to cut and shape wood on the lathe, understanding a little about the different tools required, and making a few pieces to take home. After a light farmhouse-style lunch (which we provide and which we tailor to your dietary requirements), the afternoon then continues with a pottery session. Students can have fun with clay, focusing on some basic hand building methods to get them used to handling the material using the techniques of pinching, coiling, slab building and also throwing on the wheel.  A total of 3 pieces can then be chosen for us to glaze and fire once they have dried sufficiently. When ready, they can either be collected by the student (if they live locally) or I can post them on (I have to charge postage & packaging). Refreshments are provided during both workshops, and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch is also included - catering to all dietary requirements. Depending on the weather/time of year, lunch can be taken either out in the cottage garden or in our country kitchen. The sessions are hands-on with expert 1-2-1 tuition - and the student will be able to use all the studio facilities. Each student will also be provided with a certificate of participation for both crafts. About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc. We also offer accommodation in the form of our Crafter's Retreat cabin (www.craftersretreat.co.uk) or we can advise of other local B&Bs.
