A New workshop for Phoenix Pottery, delivered for us by Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts, Chorley. Helen’s hosted a number of acrylic and watercolour workshops for us, always a beautiful calm, creative environment. You will leave with a few extra painting skills, a stunning personal creation and a calm piece of mind A full outline drawing of the Poppies will be provided for you on special acrylic paper, you’ll then be shown how to add all stages of the painting, to create a flower-filled meadow – perfect for the approaching Harvest season! There are several ‘layers’ of details which make up the picture, and you’ll get the opportunity to practice the various elements and techniques before starting the painting itself. By the end of the class, you will have a beautiful painting which will fit inside an A4 Frame. Please don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your project home in, as some of the paints may still be damp when finishing the class – a small A4 lidded tray or box will be fine. All of the materials and an apron will be provided. The workshop is suitable for beginners (from Age 14 upwards), and also for anyone who has previously tried acrylic painting before. Acrylic paints can stain clothing and be permanent when dry, so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing (not your best outfit) when attending this class! A whole day of workshops for groups of pupils throughout your school, delivered by a dedicated ally of disabled people. Engaging and thought-provoking, these workshops are a must for schools that want to challenge prejudice and promote disability equality. Workshops will help pupils to: learn more about disability and human rights hear disabled people’s perspectives identify common stereotypes and some of the prejudices disabled people face consider what disability is and how it arises understand the difference between impairment and disability review terminology and its effect on disabled people’s identities learn about disabled people who have made a difference ask sensitive questions anonymously become advocates for disability equality 95-100% of participants say that they found our workshop helpful Some of the reasons pupils have given for finding the workshop helpful are: “Until today I had always been scared of disabled people but today I have learnt that disabled people have a heart and emotions too.” “I now understand more about disabilities. How many workshops will you deliver? We can deliver up to six workshops in a day. How many pupils should there be in each group? The workshops are interactive, so they are more effective with groups of around 20 pupils. We are often asked to work with larger groups and this still generates excellent feedback from pupils and staff. What year groups are these workshops for? The workshops are suitable for all year groups in primary and secondary schools; we adapt the content and presentation according to the age of pupils. Does a member of staff need to stay with the group? Yes, we ask that a member of staff is present at each workshop. Will you need any equipment? We ask for a computer, projector and access to the internet. Pupils will need a pen to write with. How are the workshops evaluated? At the end of each workshop we ask all (except the youngest) pupils to write down if they have found it helpful or not and why; we may also offer them an opportunity to ask a question anonymously.If schools have opted for this (please see optional extras below) we will send the school written responses to questions and a transcript of pupils’ feedback as evidence of impact. Join me on this landscape photography workshop in the iconic mountains, quarries and landscape of SnowdoniaLandscape PhotographyA new addition to the tours and workshops, this area has some of the highest mountain ranges in England and Wales. The landscape is rugged but beautiful with high mountains, flowing rivers and large lakes. Based around Capel Curig in the National Park we will visit some hidden treasures, lakes, mountains, quarries and iconic vistas.A Snowdonia photography workshop and photo walk in Cwm Idwal amidst the Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges, the glacial lakes of Llyn Idwal and Llyn Ogwen and the impressive Ogwen Falls. A workshop for beginners or anyone looking to further develop their landscape photography.Course content includes camera controls, use of filters, gear choice, advice on composition. The workshop involves walking to different viewpoints within Cwm Idwal on rocky, uneven paths and an ascent of 300ft to a viewpoint above the lake so a good level of fitness and mobility is required. Due to the terrain unfortunately the workshop is unsuitable for those with limited mobility.What do you need to bring with you?Camera/lenses/Spare memory card/batteries/tripod - A digital camera with "semi-automatic/manual" controls (Aperture and Shutter priority) is recommended to get the most from the course.
