This is a theoretical and practical introductory group tuition during which you will be taught common, essential leather crafting and basic sewing techniques.You will be taught how to correctly use hand tools, how to hand sew leather and understand the most common finishing techniques used in bag and accessory making.You will learn about different types of leather and understand how to select the correct type of material(s) for your project. Far from there being a consistent method - there are a number of subtle variations you can make to what would be termed a 'standard' technique which will speed up your process, enhance further your gloss extracting capabilities and make the right choice in machine based on paint types, conditions and ancillary equipment. On this day we will run through variables in speed and pad choices, show the differences ambient temperature and rebound can make to a job, explain the different approaches based on clear coat solids, look at how far you can push a painted surface, and much much more. The course is run over two full days (9.30 am - 4.30 pm) and picks up where both our introduction course and the Flexxpert Seminar leave off, so is also the perfect follow-up to those who have attended either course, in addition to those who want to learn all about machine polishing in every style. This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in creative craft. This course has been designed to be as affordable for families as possible. Please note, this is not a GCSE but is a GCSE Level course which is why it is designed to span 2 years, although we offer complete flexibility on the timeframe that learners can complete within. This qualification is a Level 2 Qualification and is Ofqual approved carrying 15 credits. Other examples of Level 2 qualifications are BTEC Level 2 and the Silver Arts Award. Feedback from our past learners shows that this qualiifcation is widely regarded as level to a grade A*-C/4-9 at GCSE standard when applying for college or work placements. Please also note, that whether this course is recognised as a GCSE equivalent by colleges and further education establishments, can vary according to location, college and even between courses at the same college. If reliant on this qualification for entry onto another course, it is recommended that you establish with the college whether or not this will aid admission, before committing to the course.
