Hi I’m Helen! I am a fully qualified dance teacher with the International Dance Teachers’ Association running dance and dance- inspired fitness classes in Sheffield. Awards ‘Dance Fitness Instructor of the Year 2019 – South Yorkshire’ – August 2019 – Northern Enterprise Awards ‘Best Dance Fitness Instructor 2018 – South Yorkshire’ – August 2018 – Yorkshire and the Humber Enterprise Awards. Why do you teach? I have been teaching dance since I was 17. There is nothing more rewarding than helping my students realise their potential. I’ve always been so passionate about dancing and its benefits so in 2014 I decided to branch out into teaching dance-inspired fitness classes for adults. Since then I have discovered a real passion for encouraging people to get into exercise through the use of fun, dance based workout routines. I love helping my class members achieve their goals. The Dance Fit with Helen mission! Through dance, exercising can be fun and it should be fun otherwise you won’t want to do it! My mission is to break down this barrier of women feeling too self-conscious to go to an exercise class because of low body confidence and self-esteem. I like to challenge the view of fitness classes being places only fit, slim, twenty-somethings can attend! What classes are on offer? As women navigating life in this world, we have a multiple of roles to fill. We work, we parent, we listen, we teach, we work more (whether within or outside our homes), we help, we struggle, we survive. We often find ourselves stretched too thin, overworked, overstressed, overwhelmed and often unfulfilled. We have been living in a world that belittles our natural talents, gifts and abilities, and has undermined our power at every turn. We are facing extreme and challenging times, and I do not think getting back to “normal” is a viable or a realistic pursuit. Instead, we must ask ourselves which parts of yesterday do we want to keep and bring with us? And how can we actively participate in creating what we want our today and our tomorrows to be? Fear directed my life for so long. Fear of not being good enough, smart enough, thin enough, fear of all the “enoughs”. I had a very loud inner critic which caused me years of vacillating between high levels of anxiety and numbing out. And after years of personal development work with the exact practices I now share with my coaching clients, I can say that fear and anxiety are in the back seat (or better yet, the trunk) and living in a beautiful state of joy, gratitude, compassion, wonder, and peace are in the driver’s seat of my life for almost two decades. And I want this for you too!

Providing Safe Maternity Services at ASPH We were extremely saddened to read the recently published report into maternity services at Shrewsbury and Telford and understand that our families in Surrey may have concerns about their care and that of their baby. We would like to assure you that the safety of our birthing services is our top priority. The maternity services provided by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital are committed to providing safe birthing services, and we continue to work with system partners to improve our services. We are also reviewing the recommendations from the Ockenden Report to ensure we are following the latest best practice.

The Blaque Room is an community organisation started in in the hopes of highlighting the realities of sexual assault, human trafficking and similar atrocities. Although this is the case The Blaque Room also prides itself on being a place that offers some solutions by signposting people to organizations that can help, safety apps and also by being a supplier of personal safety devices. Established in November 2020 after a viral sexual assault video took the internet by storm, The Blaque Room saw the need to make young women and boys feel safe. Therefore, put up a post detailing the plan of supplying personal safety alarms to THIRTY young people in the local area and was soon inundated with thousands of requests for an alarm, thousands in donations and thousands of messages of support and also messages of people who have overcome and are still going through various forms of abuse. People of all ages, races and genders were thrilled with the idea of there being an organization that seeks to tackle sexual assault head on and provide a deterrent/ solution. Being an open and transparent organization, anonymized messages and requests would often be shared with followers of the page to keep them updated and make them aware of the demand. Since then, The Blaque Room has had the honour of providing over seven hundred young people across England with personal safety devices for free. A significant amount of the recipients has had to use their alarms and have in fact attributed them to saving their life.

I’m Jane, a mother to three wonderful children, from Mid Wales, a fully insured and certified Reiki Master and Energy healer, Shamanic practitioner and lover of the moon, nature, music and dancing! Wild Moon Wellbeing was something that was born several years ago as I was going through my Reiki Master training, with my guides helping to show me a way to bring my work out into the world, to support and empower women. But first I had to begin with myself. I have spent the last decade and more, on a deep exploration of finding different ways to support my family’s and my own wellbeing, taking us from just surviving to thriving. Developing a deeper understanding and connecting to the cycles of nature; the moon, seasons, menstrual cycle and life cycles has been hugely transformative particularly in my relationships, creativity, energy levels and general wellbeing. I love sharing this work and seeing hugely positive impact it has on people’s lives. A mother for over twenty years, and mother of three, I have a broad understanding of the issues that mothers can face today; particularly for parents of children with additional and complex needs. I know the importance of giving mothers space to be heard + seen, to have space to themselves, to recover and adjust and a little time to re-discover who they are again. And also that parenting is ever evolving… just when you think you know what you’re doing, there’s something new to learn just around the corner!
