Flo-Jo was founded in 2004 by Erika and Delia born from a love of textiles and sewing. Originally a clothing brand, named after their children Florence & Jonah, the Flo-Jo stall was a regular at festivals and markets in the South West. Their hand made ranges included children's wear, retro men and women's clothing as well their own range of underwear. In 2010 they started designing sewing kits, hosting sewing parties and teaching. Two years later they opened their own shop in Bristol. Situated on a busy independent street the shop & workshop has turned into their perfect creative space brimming with beautiful fabrics and haberdashery. They are very proud that 2016 saw the publication of their first book 'Knickers'

My Grandpa Stanley Waughman started me off with woodwork at the age of 3 - a good solid age for a girl to start working with hand tools. He was a leather worker by trade and, because of this, his hands were huge, hard and calloused – he could cusp a wasp in them without feeling its sting. As a child I knew he must be very important because his name, Stanley, was written on all his tools. Up until I was 6 years old I lived in Galston, Ayrshire, and just two doors down from my Grandparents. Ours was a quiet little cul-de-sac, except on days where I played my bright, plastic Fisher Price record player on the street corner. This was in the early 80’s, when we all played outside and scuffed knees and grubby nails were a sign of a good days play. I’d pick up pretty bits and bobs and pop them in my pockets to show my friends – some pretty stones, a handful of gooseberries, and once, the severed head of a pheasant that sent them scarpering and squealing. I just thought the feathers were beautiful. To this day, I still have a soft spot for pheasants.

Hi I'm Lauren, Designer, Maker and Founder of Lauren Holloway - Sustainable Bags & Accessories handmade in Bristol. My journey started in 2013 when I dug out a dusty vintage Singer sewing machine and taught myself how to make bags. I created my first collection from the bedroom of my flat, opened an Etsy shop and the rest is history! I love the whole process of designing and making - from coming up with the initial idea to handpicking each element from fabrics to hardware, focusing not only on functionality but on aesthetics and originality. My aim is to create beautiful products that are made with care and attention to detail with a focus on sustainable and ethical manufacturing. I have always been inspired by my travels around the globe, especially the beautiful patterns of Japan and the bold, colourful fabrics of Bali. My aim is to create sustainable, unique and practical bags that reflect your values and bring a little sunshine into your world! I really hope you enjoy using my products as much I enjoy designing and making them. You might have known me as Maybe Mabel in the past. In September 2021 I changed my business name, you can read about the change over on the blog post.
