Historical Association webinar series: Direct history teaching Presenters: Mike Hill and Jacob Olivey In this fourth session, Jacob and Mike will explore how history teachers can teach disciplinary knowledge (how we know about the past) directly – specifically, historical interpretations. They will share examples of lessons that directly teach pupils how historians (and others) have constructed interpretations about the past. Attendees Will Be Able To: Know the Parts of Speech and their correct uses; Understand Sentence Structure, including applying rules for Subject-Verb and Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement; Be able to create Plurals and Possessives accurately and with certainty; Review and use the rules of Spelling, Mechanics (Capitalization, Abbreviation, Number Use), and Punctuation; Create original email / documents to employ newly-learned class material.   Online Format—Business Grammar and Usage is a 4-hour interactive virtual class for up to ten people. Register for this class and you will be sent ONLINE login instructions prior to the class date. It was great to have the opportunity to learn some new techniques and to gain more awareness of how I present myself. The most immediately applicable uses have been in reducing my “ums” and “ahs” and in trying to come to my point in a more succinct way. Our Tuesday evening life drawing session is fun, chatty, sketchy and arty. Join the regulars and newbies alike for two hours of sketching the nude human form. Different models each week and basic art materials can be supplied.

Whether you are brand new to sewing or brushing up on old skills our small class is perfect for you to learn new skills. With only 4 people per class there is plenty of time for me to give individual help and tuition. There's no curriculum at Make it! Each student can work on their own projects whether that's home furnishings or dressmaking. There's no point in making a cushion cover if you really just want to learn how to make a posh frock! If you're not sure of what you'd like to make, don't worry I have lots of ideas and plenty of patterns. For beginners, there's no need to bring anything. I have lots of machines for you to try out and endless boxes of fabric and thread to play with. If you have your own machine please feel free to bring it and I'll help you set it up. You don't need to commit to a block of classes. You can book weekly for any of the classes held at the studio. This is perfect if you work alternating shifts or at weekends or even if your look after your grandchildren on the odd occasion. All of the other classes are listed on the main page.

The Spanglish club is for all people wanting to improve their Spanish outside of a class room. Depending on numbers, there are going to be groups of max 6 people, the group will be Beginners (A2), Intermediate and Advance. Each group will have a Spanish native speaker who can help you with your Spanish :) We will first meet our table amig@s and socialise, then we will make a fun and interesting activity for you to have a better Spanish speaking experience. Please book only if you are 100% sure to attend as there will be other Spanglishers waiting for you.  Where? Time?
