<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-class="p1"><span fr-original-style="" fr-original-class="s1" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water, you will learn how to make two different types of fine silver rings. Anna will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-class="p1"><span fr-original-style="" fr-original-class="s1" style="box-sizing: border-box;">You will complete two projects: a flat band ring, and a D profile ring (as shown in the photographs). Create your own silver rings: a full-day jewellery workshop.
You’ll be guided by Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors, in this inspiring one-day workshop. Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class will take your jewellery-making skills to the next level. 
Over the course of the day, you’ll craft two beautiful silver rings, each showcasing different techniques. This hands-on workshop will provide you with expert guidance as you explore new ways to create and refine your designs in silver clay.
Here’s what you’ll create and learn:
Flat band ring. Start by making a classic flat band ring, which is sleek and flat all the way around. This project will introduce you to essential ring-making techniques, including how to size your ring for a perfect fit and work with silver clay to shape and refine your design. You will be able to texture and embellish this ring to make it unique to you.
D Profile ring. Next, you’ll craft a D profile ring - a design that is flat on the inside and elegantly rounded on the outside. This sophisticated style will allow you to explore more advanced techniques and develop your skills in shaping and finishing.

A helpful instruction manual will be provided to guide you through your project.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">If you opt for the plant hanger project your workshop will finish after 3 hours. The longer wall hanging and bag projects last for an extra 2 hours, i.e. a 5 hour workshop.</p>

Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.

The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Learn how to quickly capture the world around you in ink and watercolour.
Known locally as the Edinburgh Sketcher, ink and watercolour artist Mark Kirkham is well-known on social media for the sketches he creates on the streets of Edinburgh, and beyond.
On this newly extended 3 hour sketching tour, Mark will guide you around some of his favourite, nearby Georgian New Town sketching spots, picking out details in architecture and nature that will help describe the techniques he has picked up over a decade of sketching around Edinburgh.
Each class will touch on details, perspectives, depth and composition, as you go from 5 minute exercises to relax the hand and work on composition, to 30 minute detailed vistas as you walk around nearby beautiful and historic locations.
You will start and finish at The Arienas Collective, where you will have access to a selection of hot refreshments, toilet facilities, and can leave any belongings before heading out on your tour.

All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.

The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. <p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Based on feedback from those attending our beginners silver clay jewellery classes, tutor Anna Campbell has designed this bespoke&nbsp;intermediate level, full-day workshop to cover what people wanted to learn next: how to make silver clay boxes and beads.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this intermediate level&nbsp;boxes and beads class you will make three pieces:</p>

<li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">a Pandora-style silver wrapped bead; and</li>

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">We will cover creating box pendants with flat or rounded sides, using moulds to make decorations, designing the front and back of a piece, making bails, as well as different types of unique silver beads.&nbsp;</p>

Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class offers expert guidance, hands-on learning, and plenty of insider tips from Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors.
What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics etc. It can be moulded and shaped like clay. Once dry, it can be fired and that is when the alchemy happens - the clay turns to solid hallmark quality silver. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a crème brûlée torch.

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this one-day Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop - suitable for beginners or those that have attended our silver jewellery taster workshop and wish to develop their skills - you will create three different pieces of jewellery.<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">&nbsp;<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, your expert tutor, Edinburgh-based jeweller Anna Campbell, will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (at home a cr&egrave;me brul&eacute; torch will also do the job). Step into the world of jewellery making with this hands-on beginner-friendly workshop, where you’ll create three unique pieces of silver jewellery from scratch!
Over the course of this workshop day, you’ll explore the versatility of silver clay and handmake three stunning projects, each designed to teach you essential skills while sparking your creativity.
What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics, and the like. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a creme brule torch.
Here’s what you’ll learn and create on this workshop:
Design and craft a pair of earrings (or pendant/charm). Start your journey by designing and crafting a personalized pair of earrings. Don’t have pierced ears? No problem! You can choose to make a beautiful pendant or a bracelet charm instead. Learn how to work with silver clay, texture and shape your pieces and what is possible with this material. 
Make your own custom silicone mould and silver clay charm. Discover the magic of mould-making as you create your very own silicone mould from any object of your choice. You can bring small items of your own e.g. buttons, charms, shells etc or choose from the large selection we have for you! You’ll then use this mould to create a unique silver clay charm, adding a truly personal touch to your jewellery. This technique opens up endless possibilities for future designs.
Craft a gorgeous stone-set pendant. Add a touch of elegance to your jewellery with a stone setting. In this project, you’ll design a stunning pendant and learn how to set a fireable gemstone into silver clay, adding a touch of colour to your design. You will also learn more about which gemstones can be set in silver clay. 
Throughout the workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step by Anna Campbell, one of the leading metal clay teachers in the UK, making this a fun and accessible class for complete beginners. You’ll leave with three pieces of handmade jewellery, new skills, and a strong foundation in working with silver clay.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a welcoming and supportive environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.
All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Or check in before booking.
Private workshop bookings

John Brady

John is a highly experienced fundraising manager and leader with over 25 years of experience, the last 20 being at the most senior level in the organisation worked in. 

Working as a Senior Leader, Executive Director or Chief Executive he has a wide range of experience of managing and leading teams, strategic development, financial analysis, fundraising compliance and management of a broad range of fundraising specialisms such as Events, Trusts and Foundations, Corporate, Charity Retail, Individual Giving and Legacies, with specialist experience within Individual Giving. That has included introducing or developing regular giving programmes, managing gaming products such as society weekly lotteries and raffles, developing or creating direct mail programmes and telephone campaigns.

John’s first professional fundraising role was as Divisional Manager at the British Lung Foundation (now Asthma and Lung UK) and has worked for a number of other charities including, Alcohol Focus Scotland, Sense Scotland, Erskine, and as Chief Executive of OneKind. John’s last role was at St Andrew’s Hospice where he led income growth in Individual Giving by leading the introduction of an Appeals programme and the tripling of the Lottery to £1.1 million per year.

John joined the sector in 1998 following the death of his younger brother at a young age due to stomach cancer. This instilled in John a passionate belief about the difference charities can make to making the world a better place somehow.

John champions ethical fundraising and so joined the Chartered Institute of Fundraising becoming chair of the Institute of Fundraising in Scotland and was made a Fellow in 2016. He was a member of several committees and working groups focussing on reviewing and enhancing fundraising regulation and compliance. He has been a Board member of the Hospice Income Generation Network and Enable Scotland and is currently Chair of Enable Trustee Services.
