LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, NEW ADULT Rebeka Finch is a Literary Agent at the Darley Anderson Agency and Associates. Rebeka is building her list of romance and romantasy authors. She is looking for books that lean into the classic romance tropes, but provide a new spin on the traditional story. Especially looking for books that encapsulate life in your messy 20s, romantic, chaotic and full of heart. She would like to see books that offer a sex-positive outlook for readers and that are representative of all voices and sexual orientations. Rebeka is also excited to see more genre bending mashups, think Twisters but make it a romance, or Bridget Jones meets Oceans Eleven. Something filled with thrills and adventure, but keeping a spine tingling romance and escapism at its core. For fantasy, Rebeka is looking specifically for romantic fantasy/romantasy. Something that transports minds to richly imagined worlds, but keeps those romantic relationships at the heart of the story. She would love to see diverse narratives inspired by landscapes of North Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia, particularly those set in the heated dunes of the desert. Think Rae Carson’s Fire and Thorns, or Danielle Jensen’s The Traitor Queen. Importantly, she looks for strong, diverse, brave and relatable characters in any submissions she reads. People that feel like both a friend, a champion and an ally. Rebeka would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 -2 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your completed manuscript in a single word document. Speakeasy is a free course for parents and other caregivers of autistic children and young people, aged up to 18 years old, living within Conwy and Denbighshire. A programme of six sessions. Mondays 6pm to 8pm. We will be delivering the course online. Discussing growing up, relationships, and sex with your autistic child can be a challenging yet essential aspect of parenting. Our Speakeasy course is designed to guide you through these conversations; join us for a course designed to address the specific needs of parents with autistic children and young people, supporting you to talk with your child about growing up, relationships and sex. The course will cover: What is relationships and sex education and what it means for you Growing up and puberty Online behaviour Protecting children from harm Safer sex Relationships and sexuality education (RSE) in school The course offers a flexible and relaxed way to gain greater confidence in an area that can cause embarrassment and awkwardness for families with children of all ages. The programme is particularly suited to parents and caregivers of autistic children and young people as we can explore key concerns, adapt resources to different needs and work as a group on maximising strengths and problem solving.  Eligibility: Are you a parent or other caregiver of an autistic child/children? Before joining the Literary team, she worked for Bright in marketing, with previous experience as a bookseller. She loves working with authors to find their books an audience, and particularly enjoys building lasting relationships with editors and authors alike. Katie spends most of her free time reading, and enjoys a wide range of books across Children’s, Literary Fiction, Science Fiction, Fantasy and Graphic Novels. When she’s not reading, Katie is also a contributor on the Graham Norton Book Club on Audible. Katie adores a wide range of genres but especially magical realism, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and romance (or any mix of the above!)
