SOLD OUT! 6th August Ciara Finan #Agent121. Looking for: ADULT FICTION / NON-FICTION

5.0(3)

By I Am In Print

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION / NON-FICTION Upon joining Curtis Brown in 2018, Ciara Finan worked with senior agents Jonny Geller and Sheila Crowley on their lists of bestselling and prize-winning authors such as Lisa Jewell, Susanna Clarke, David Nicholls, Jojo Moyes and Nigella Lawson. Now as an agent she is representing a wide range of fiction and non-fiction writers. Ciara would consider her reading tastes to be quite broad and ever-growing, but is constantly drawn to books that have a decisive voice, unforgettable characters, an unexpected story, or can subvert and reconstruct the conventional narratives of love, friendship, family, loss and coming-of-age. In particular, she is looking for Adult and YA fantasy and romantasy, rom-coms and book club romance. In the wider fantasy genre, Ciara is keen on finding romantasy, cozy fantasy, dark/light academia, and anything with political intrigue. She seeks novels that will keep her reading into the early hours of the morning. She wants to be consumed by the world, the plot and the characters. Think authors like Leigh Bardugo, Tamsyn Muir, R.F. Kuang, Sangu Mandanna, Hannah Nicole Maehrer, Deborah Harkness, Chloe Gong, Ava Reid or Sabaa Tahir. In romcoms and romance, Ciara is looking for something that explores the complicated nature of romantic relationships - think Seven Days in June by Tia Williams, The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston or anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid. She would love to find a brilliantly witty workplace romance or anything that will leave her in tears. Ciara would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 -2 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your completed manuscript in a single word document. (In addition to the paid sessions, Ciara is kindly offering one free session for low income/under-represented writers. Please email agent121@iaminprint.co.uk to apply, outlining your case for this option which is offered at the discretion of I Am In Print).  By booking you understand you need to conduct an internet connection test with I Am In Print prior to the event. You also agree to email your material in one document to reach I Am In Print by the stated submission deadline and note that I Am In Print take no responsibility for the advice received during your agent meeting. The submission deadline is: Wednesday 30th July 2025

Colwyn Bay

In 1983 at a time of record high unemployment a group of local business leaders came together. Their vision? Create an organisation that would enable young people to develop the future skills they needed to obtain work and forge successful careers, while benefiting the community. This organisation became North Wales Training. It steadily grew, responding to local employment challenges. It built strong relationships with private and public sector partners. And it cultivated expert knowledge in the key skills people of the area needed to be successful in modern workplaces. Having already formed a work-based learning partnership with Coleg Llandrillo and Arfon Dwyfor Training Ltd, it was only natural for North Wales Training to partner with the emergent umbrella organisation Grŵp Llandrillo Menai (GLlM) when this was established in 2012. That the Grwp - the largest education provider in Wales - decided to acquire North Wales Training fully in 2018 is a testament to the reputation North Wales Training had earned itself. Over 38 years the company has raised the prospects of thousands of people and businesses on its own and in partnership with leading education providers, always keeping step with the times. It draws on its rich heritage and wealth of experience to offer a comprehensive range of high-quality innovative programmes, training and job opportunities. As we navigate another challenging decade, the staff at North Wales Training continue to work tirelessly in pursuit of the company’s vision, that "all our learners will succeed." THE VISION, MISSION & CORE VALUES Vision All our learners will succeed. Mission North Wales Training is committed to helping people gain skills and qualifications for employability, so that they are equipped for productive, sustainable and fulfilling employment in a modern economy. Core Values LEADERSHIP – Lead by example, embracing change and striving for excellence. INTEGRITY – Integrity is at the heart of all our relationships and everything we do. COMMUNICATION – Build open and honest relationships through communication. EQUALITY – We will embrace diversity in all aspects of our work. SUSTAINABILITY – We will ensure we are resource efficient and our working. INNOVATION – We will continue to be innovative and develop entrepreneurial thinking. I am extremely happy with the service provided by North Wales Training to ATS over the past 3 years. We have recruited a number of young people from the Traineeship Programme. The service is fantastic and Donna has been a great help in particular. I am extremely happy to continue using North Wales Training in the future and would like to thank them for their continued support! ANTHONY BEACH - ATS EUROMASTER Her confidence has grown immensely since she started and completed her level 3 diploma. Being given the opportunity to be a supervisor and to complete her Health and Social Care Apprenticeship training has made a huge difference to her. I believe it is because she has a fantastic assessor who has empowered her to show her full potential. Top marks for all involved, always a pleasure to deal with North Wales Training. This is recommended in the Welsh Government guidance for educational opportunities of this type. Throughout the course we seek to develop emotional intelligence and offer plenty of adult supported and child led experiences that allow social skills, self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation and empathy to flourish. There will be the chance to problem solve, work as a team and independently and show leadership skills. Children will be encouraged to think creatively, to enquire and to reflect on their own learning. Beach Days Single days can meet a specific curriculum or school community need and can be planned with users. They can inspire a school project, add depth to a topic, offer a completely different and exciting experience and offer a chance for children to shine in a new environment. These days are planned to suit the needs of the group and could focus on: The beach environment with rockpooling, identification and animal adaptations. The development of a seaside town over time. An introduction to forces through a range of activities. A book, such as Kenzuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, with activities inspired by the story. Outdoor pursuit challenges in line with the primary PE curriculum. Information and communication technology While on the beach we can use technology to capture the experience in pictures, words, sound, film or music. Back at school we can support the innovative use of technology to develop learning further. Our most popular day is “A Day at the Beach” which is often used by year 1, though has been adapted for preschool and years 2-5.

Deganwy

I’ve always been fascinated by people. In fact, I love people and the fact that we are all so different. And I love conversation. We live in a world which is ever-changing. We have to adapt and some of us find that easier than others. And I'm no exception to that. I’ve spent a good deal of my life finding out what makes people tick, and I didn’t even realise it was happening. And that’s how I came to discover my passion – helping people to change the way they see themselves and the world around them. To learn to love themselves again. To believe in themselves. To overcome stress or emotional pain, whatever the cause. And to begin enjoy life again. Just as I have. My own experiences and extensive training have helped me grow, and I know I will never stop growing and evolving. I still study, attend workshops and training to enhance my knowledge and skills. Although, of course, certificates are no indication of anyone's life experience, wisdom or compassion. When I'm not studying, I love travelling and have had many wonderful experiences. I love anything to do with the theatre, music and dance. I grew up in a theatrical world. I played clarinet, performed on stage from a very young age and have directed musicals. Now, I just love to watch. What's next? Watch this space! MY STORY We all have a story, whether it’s just a few chapters or an enormous long novel. I have my story too, and I’ve used it to change my life and completely turn it around. I'd been interested in spirituality and the mind-body connection for as long as I can remember, and a huge life change gave me opportunity to re-examine the way I lived my life. I really believe that we can change our lives by changing the way we see ourselves and what’s happening around us – our thoughts create our reality. If we let go of negative patterns and limiting beliefs, we can change our thoughts and change our lives. After living through and learning from the many challenges in my own life, I recognised the potential for helping others to embrace positive change into their lives as well. I still apply my training in my own life. Recovering from abuse, self-loathing, failed relationships, lack of confidence and many other things that troubled my past has changed my life completely, just as it can change yours. It doesn’t change what’s happened, you can’t change the past, but you can enjoy your life now and create a better future. I know from personal experience how powerful this can be. I can help you to see what’s holding you back, offering you support and guidance as you go forward and take control of your life. I can’t do the work for you, but I will support you all the way, for as long as you need. Wouldn’t that be great? Loving the life you live and living a life you love? I do, and so can you!
