In this online hands-on workshop you will learn the basics of silver clay work. You will practice rolling, cutting, adding texture, firing and finishing your pieces. You will finish with a greater understanding of the process and the confidence to continue working with this exciting material at home. There's nothing quite like making something yourself—and when you do it with silver clay, the process is even more exciting because of how versatile it is. You can create anything from simple charms to elaborate necklaces and earrings. Once you've learned this process, you'll be able to do it at home whenever inspiration strikes!
This is a 4 week course on Fridays from 1-3. Each week we will do a different type of easy artistic process for fun and to ensure great results with no previous knowledge or skill.

In this class we will talk about different kinds of wadding and will learn about the quilting together of all the layers with either straight lines or freemotion stitching. Then we will learn to bind our mini quilts (bring the mini quilt tops we created in earlier classes, or bring your own) Wadding and thread all included in the price, as well as a copy of my In Stitches sewing handbook. In this one-day introduction to grain setting techniques, you will learn how to set small stones in a selection of styles. We will begin with a simple single stone grain setting before moving onto a traditional star setting and finally a row of five stones in a thread and grain style setting. During the day we will also look at considerations for grain setting as well as the preparation of tools and possible applications. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. For stone setting courses, it is also recommended to bring Optivisors if you have any or glasses which allow you to see smaller stones.
