Under the Private Security Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must hold a recognised qualification before applying for the relevant sector licence.

To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 46-hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 12 contact hours for the Physical Intervention Skills Within the Private Security Industry unit.
