A one-day/8 hour radar navigation course giving you an understanding of radar as an aid to navigation and collision avoidance. Cruising boats increasingly have radar on board. The International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea state that if you have a radar, you must know how to use it. Radar is probably the most versatile of all electronic navigation aids, but the best results are only obtained when you know how to use all the functions correctly. It is not an automatic all-seeing eye, and can easily mislead those who do not understand its controls, allow for its limitations, or interpret its picture. With a focus on prevention of breakdown at sea and having an ability to resolve defects which do not require workshop support. EMM-Tech Short Course. This is a short introductory course created by Ross Emmett so that everyone would have the opportunity to use some of his work to help themselves, friends and family. It is primarily designed for non-professionals, however, it is also an ideal low cost introduction for trained therapists to see what EMMETT is all about. The course contains 11 moves which have been specially selected from the EMMETT Technique Practitioner Course. The course is conducted over 8 hours and may be offered as a one 8-hour day or two 4-hour sessions which are usually from one day to two weeks apart. No prior experience is necessary to attend a course. It can be attended by anyone over 16 years old.

Laser cutting and engraving is a CNC technology that allows an amazing range of high-quality 2D and 3D designs and products to be made quickly and easily. Using Inkscape, a free and open-source software program, you will learn how to create designs for cutting and engraving in wood, leather, acrylic, cardboard, and even glass. Laser cutters are increasingly being used by all kinds of businesses and individuals and becoming ever more available. This short course will teach you the basic skills necessary to turn your ideas into reality. We will start by doing some small guided projects in plywood or cardboard. You will learn how to draw shapes, paths, and text objects in inkscape, and how to control the laser cutting process by assigning colors to the different elements of the design. Once you have mastered the basics we will do some more complex tasks like tracing a bitmap, grouping paths, and manipulating curves, and then you can start working on your own projects. There are no formal entry requirements but you should have some basic computer and mouse skills. You may also want to download and get to know Inkscape before you come, but it is not essential.
