HE WORKED AT JOHN HARDMAN STUDIO (EST. 1838), WHERE HE DESIGNED STAINED GLASS WINDOWS FOR SEVERAL HISTORICAL BUILDINGS, MODERN ARCHITECTURAL SETTINGS, PRIVATE COMPANIES, AND RESIDENTIAL SPACES. DURING HIS TIME AT HARDMAN STUDIO, HE EXPLORED (PUGIN'S) THEORY AND (HARDMAN'S) PRACTICE OF GOTHIC REVIVAL STAINED GLASS. THROUGH STAINED GLASS RESTORATION, HE HAS MASTERED IN MULTIPLE GLASS PAINTING STYLES AND TECHNIQUES USED IN MEDIEVAL, ARTS & CRAFTS, PRE-RAPHAELITES AND GOTHIC REVIVAL STAINED GLASS. WITH OVER 23 YEARS OF ARTS PRACTICE, HE HAS ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS A FREELANCE ARTIST AND EDUCATOR. JAMAL DESIGNS, MANUFACTURES, RESTORES AND CONSERVES HAND-PAINTED STAINED GLASS FOR A VARIETY OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS FROM HIS LITTLE STUDIO IN BIRMINGHAM. Normally, you can pop down to the studio to select your craft, e.g. pottery painting, silk clay, throwing and handbuilding with clay (it's advisable to phone ahead if you want to come down at the weekend as we're often running special workshops). Obviously, not so easy peasy in Lockdown, but we've got loads of take away options to keep you out of trouble whilst at home. If you don't mind waiting for your masterpiece, choose one of the many, many pieces on display on our Take away pages, grab an apron and a paint brush, let your imagination run riot with the wide range of glazes, leave your creation with us for a few days, then collect your glazed work of art and enjoy! We're sure it'll be worth the wait!

We achieve this by providing professional quality training and tuition given by accredited Assessors, in a friendly environment for your pupils to achieve their best results. We offer alternative provision for your school or pupil referral unit. Your pupils will learn lots of new skills such as; first and foremost some Health and Safety - Manuel Handling and Bricklaying, Carpentry, Plastering, Tilling, Painting and much more. Level 1 Diplomas also teach your pupils some valuable life skills too, such as work relations and planning for their future career. The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Construction (601/8544/2) successfully completed by your pupils, will provide them with the equivalent GCSE result, and may also be worth points for school league and attainment tables!

"We encourage, enable, develop, mentor, facilitate, empower and support local creative arts practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds." Since our Foundation, in September 2014, we have staged over 120 exhibitions showcasing a varied body of work, by artists both emerging and established. Encompassing a diverse and multi-disciplinary range of artistic practices including: Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Illustration, Photography, Sound, Video and Performance Art. A comprehensive list of all of our past exhibitions can be found under 'Portfolio'. Our overarching ‘Philosophy’ is to actively encourage, enable, develop, mentor, facilitate, empower and support local creative arts practitioners from a wide range of background with a priority to engage in discussion around accessibility within the arts in relation to mental health, financial hardship and institutional bias. We have also provided work placements to a number of European students, via the Erasmus + and Gecko programme. Partnering with local Venues, Institutes and schools , we aim to develop a strong community that has access to free space, free mentoring and the ability to grow and learn from each others valuable experience and skills. The spaces are offered for hire and for free depending on the nature of the request and is offered to both emerging artists or collectives that deserve a space to explore and harness potential, or established artists with a strong visual aesthetic. Our initiative is to offer this space first and foremost to west-midlands based artists who wish to strengthen their local artistic community and create a discourse for regeneration. We curate approx one show per month in our two exhibition spaces and these are either from chosen submitted proposals or from exceptional and forward thinking artists that we find on our travels. In-between these exhibitions we encourage groups or collectives with a passion for community welfare and development to use the spaces for poetry , music, discussions, rehearsals , workshops or their own curatorial interests.
