Duration 1 Day Validity 3 years Course Overview The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a nationally recognized qualification aimed at individuals who need to provide immediate first aid for infants and children in emergency situations. This course is ideal for those working in childcare settings or with parental responsibilities who require a basic understanding of how to respond to common paediatric emergencies. Aligned with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements, this qualification enables learners to act swiftly and confidently in emergency situations. Upon completion, participants will be able to provide essential first aid care to infants and children until professional medical help arrives. What’s Covered Roles and responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider Conducting a primary survey of an emergency situation Infant and child CPR & AED usage Managing unconscious infants and children First aid for choking in infants and children Treatment of wounds and bleeding Handling shock effectively Addressing minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, and bruises Understanding incident reporting and recording Entry Requirements Participants must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. There are no formal entry requirements, though learners are encouraged to have a basic level of literacy and numeracy to complete the assessments and actively engage in the practical exercises. Course Information Venue: All our 'Open' courses are delivered from our dedicated training venue: Pulse South Coast Ltd, Bentley Wildfowl, Harveys Lane, Ringmer, BN8 5AF On occasion we may use a separate venue, this will be advised on the course booking. Facilities: On your course you will be provided with tea & coffee making facilities and biscuits. We are in a rural location so we recommend brining lunch with you on the day. There is a microwave & fridge on site for your use. There is a garage that is approximately a 10 minute drive from our venue. Parking: We have a dedicated car park that is approximately a 300m walk to the training venue. There is no additional cost to use this parking. We accept no responsibility for any personal loss or theft while you are on our training courses or premises. Please ensure to keep your personal belongings safe at all times. What is required from you: All courses are delivered in English, you must have a basic understanding of the English language to attend. There is a requirement for you to show that you are capable of performing the skills you are taught on the course, due to this you will need to be physically able to demonstrate all practical elements of the course. Dress: As a company we pride ourselves on running immersive & practical training courses. You will often be expected to kneel & work outdoors, please dress appropriately. Identification: As we deliver Ofqual accredited courses, there is a requirement for you to show a form of ID on the first day of the course. This could be; a driving license, passport or something that clearly shows who you are. Timings: All of our courses have a minimum training time of six hours a day, we will often advertise a course as seven hours to include break times. On occasion it is required to go over the scheduled times, however this will always be discussed with the group on the day. Trainer: During your course you will have a designated trainer for the duration. They are there not only to assess for the qualification, but to offer you guidance and support throughout. Your sculpture will continue to grow for years, simple maintence retains the size and shape whilst providing new deep red withies for you to cut and weave with each year. You will learn some basic weaving techniques and learn about how the willow is grown and processed. No experience necessary, bring a light weight pair of gardening gloves  Plant pot and compost supplied. Refreshments are included.

An opportunity to spend a week at Charney Manor learning about and discussing the sunnier aspects of Shakespeare's art, and explore his investigations into what makes a good marriage. We will see the Royal Shakespeare Company's current productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor, his one suburban comedy, and As you Like it, which will be staged in the open air. I've added this two day workshop because a one day workshop gives you the basics, but two days will allow you to develop your carving technique and use additional knife grasps.  By embedding good technique into the way you carve, you will avoid injuries and additional regular stretching will help you to look after your body. You will leave with the knowledge and confidence to carve safely at home.  You will have access to a range of different tools, starting with the axe to rough out spoon blanks - I have a good range of axes you can try from budget to the Gransfors large carving axe. Next using the Mora wood carving knives (105/106/120) to shape your blanks into spoons following traditional designs for optimising strength and utility. I also have a range of hook knives to try out. Using these traditional tools you will make a spoon from local and sustainable fresh cut green wood (usually willow/birch/alder or cherry) - starting with a log and leaving with a spoon. From the initial splitting of the log, trimming it down with an axe, to carving finer details and decorations with chip carving knives. This course is located close to central Edinburgh and is accessible by public transport.  Depending on the weather it can be inside or outdoors in the wildlife garden.
