We Don't Make Servers ...We Make Services: Implementing and Managing IT Services Implementing and Managing IT Services Being a service provider demands knowledge of who the customer is, what you as a provider offer customers (services), and assurance that those services provide value. Customers care about quality of service (e.g. the meal), and generally have little concern about the origin or performance of the ingredients that make it up (e.g. who does the maintenance on the grill). This session will discuss the concept of IT Service Management (ITSM), being a service provider, and the associated challenges, risks and critical success factors. You will learn about the importance, benefits and challenges of implementing and managing a formal IT Service Management (ITSM) practice for your IT organization and, ultimately, your company. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Some titles, such as Agile-related topics may qualify for other continuing education credits such as SEUs, or CEUs. Some limitations apply and can be found in the Ways to Earn PDUs section that discusses PDU activities and associated policies. Fractions of PDUs may also be reported. The smallest increment of a PDU that can be reported is 0.25. This means that if you spent 15 minutes participating in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.25 PDU. If you spend 30 minutes in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.50 PDU.

The Mission-Critical Project Manager - Why Our PMs Need (more) Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills Many project managers have achieved mastery of the "tools of the project management trade": they are great planners, effective managers of their project teams, heroic firefighters - in short, they are competent in delivering projects. However, the number of people who can identify a problem, articulate a strategy to address it, *and* translate that strategy into reality is very limited in most organizations. Today, the ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity, acknowledge and solve new problems, and deal with a high degree of uncertainty is in high demand. For such challenges there is little to be found in the conventional 'PM Toolbox.' Adding creative and critical thinking skills is a rewarding opportunity and can make the difference between being just another PM or a truly strategic asset. What Great Executive Sponsors Do...and When! Numerous studies have shown that having an actively engaged executive sponsor is a key driver of project success-yet, many organizations do not assign sponsors to projects, and when they do, the results aren't what they hoped or expected. Most sponsors want to be effective but they simply don't know how because they've never been trained. J. LeRoy Ward takes the mystery out of sponsorship by describing exactly what a sponsor should do (and when during the project life-cycle) to capitalize on this powerful role and its ability to boost the chances of project success. Our Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions: Creating Cultural Awareness in You and Your World Everyone is unique, and we all see and interact differently with the world around us. Our upbringings, our relationships, our communities, and the culture that we are a part of are just some of the elements that influence our worldview and our own cultural bubble. Most people have some understanding of unconscious bias, but the term 'microaggression' may be less known to some. When heading into this presentation, it is relevant to keep in mind that due to our cultural bubbles, we all hold unconscious biases within us and that many of us have displayed microaggressions towards others. What is also true is that, most likely, everyone has been on the receiving end of such behavior whether you realize it or not. This session will set you up to become more aware of your own (and others') unconscious biases and microaggressions through words, thoughts, and impact - and how You can take action. Examining the communities where we live and the organizations where we work, we will discover how to recognize and handle the intentional and unintentional biases that prevail all around us to help contribute and create a safer personal and work environment. We will learn: What is unconscious bias? What is a microaggression and is it really micro? Where do unconscious bias and microaggressions come from? Cultural self-awareness starts with you and your world Microaggression Giver: Being responsible for your impact Microaggression Receiver: When to talk about it or walk away?
Building Hyper Performance Scrum Teams: Using Crew Resource Management Techniques from Aviation Have you ever been part of an organization or team where leaders failed to accept input from junior team members and a project or initiative failed? Now imagine being part of a team flying an aircraft where either failing to share information or not acting on critical information in a decisive manner can cause the aircraft you're in to crash. In the Flight Decks of today's aircraft, open communication and the ability to respectfully question authority are essential cognitive and interpersonal skills every crew member must learn so as a team they can mitigate the unforgiving risks inherent in their complex environment. Thirty years ago flight deck culture was entrenched in hierarchical command and control management. This is very similar to the legacy of waterfall command and control leadership styles that is impeding agile transformations around the globe. Welcome to your very first step into the Wing Chun Kung Fu system and our organisation Wing Chun International. It is important to note our Beginners Programme is in fact known as "Phase 1 -Beginners" Phase 1- Beginners on average takes 8 months to complete before moving on to Phase 2 known as "Phase 2 - Intermediate". We have designed and structured our programmes and lessons in such a way for students to gain the knowledge and tools to protect themselves from day one, with each lesson and rotation building on the last rotation. We do this by breakdown Phase 1 - Beginners into a two month rotation curriculum where we repeat the same programme every 2 months, 4 times to make the 8 months. Each time the student repeats a rotation his/her;s understanding and ability will improve plus each grade has a slight different focus and testing. This means in Phase 1 - Beginners we have 4 levels or better known as student Grades 1, 2, 3 & 4. Here within this online lesson we are primary focused on what the student MUST know in order to pass each of the rotations with this lesson being the 1st Student Grade. We do highly recommend student upgrade if not already and purchase the whole of the Phase 1 - Beginners programme rather than just purchase what they will be tested within each grades.
