Having grown up in a family who spent their holidays in a tent somewhere in the UK, I spent many a camping trip in the woods building dens, exploring and enjoying the outdoors and still do! I am a Scout Leader and have run a troop for over 15 years. Prior to starting my adventure with Forest School I worked in a school for young people with additional needs, from ages 4-16. I have level 2 at British Sign Language and currently learning Welsh. I have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy being out and about whether its walking the dog or with my family or Scouts exploring woodlands, setting up camps and cooking on open fires. Just being outdoors in nature is the best.

Yin yoga invites you to give your muscles a rest whilst placing gentle stress on fascia (tissues that connect and run through muscles) and joints. The gentle nature of the practice and long holds of the poses result in it often being confused with restorative yoga, which is designed to place no stress on the body. Unlike restorative yoga, yin yoga benefits come through finding the right level of sensation, usually some discomfort but not sharp pain, and then staying still for an extended period of time. Yin yoga classes will usually ask you to hold a pose with your muscles relaxed for 2-5 minutes but more experienced students may wish to occasionally try classes or a home practice involving 10 minute holds.

After training to teach in India I found a new passion for passing on the practise and sharing my admiration for everything I have learnt along the way. Before catching the yoga bug, I was a professional dressage rider and I am lucky enough to own and care for two beautiful horses, who take up any spare time I have. She has created a range of stationary and home decor products that she sells online and is looking forward to exhibiting them with Country Living Magazine at RHS Tatton in July 2022. Being inspired heavily by nature means Clare can’t resist collecting plants and beach combing while on family walks with Bobby, the Bichon Frise who is rather famous with the locals and known as ‘no-eye Bob’ (yes, he has no eyes!). Clare has a passion for creating and printing designs beginning with hand-drawn motifs and one-off Gelli plate prints, eventually digitally manipulating them to the form final designs.

The Shop Zero Story When our founder, Sarah Maloy, went all-in on Plastic-free July in 2016, she felt completely overwhelmed! The world just wasn’t set up to help people reduce their waste. In committing to shop more consciously, Sarah embarked on an exciting new journey. She realised that if she was struggling to get bulk food and refills for her containers then other people would be too. How could she help to provide a solution? By opening her own zero-waste shop, Shop Zero (you can read about this experience in Sarah’s own words here). Sarah threw all of her research and knowledge into Shop Zero, only stocking products from ethical suppliers that she would personally use. Why do your eco-friendly shopping at Shop Zero? Our focus is on providing you with great quality sustainable goods with minimal packaging and a lower environmental impact. At Shop Zero, we know the provenance of what we sell – where our products come from and what they’re made of. We work alongside local producers and makers to bring you great quality sustainable products. To reduce packaging and food waste, we offer whole foods and store cupboard essentials in bulk and unpackaged. All ready for your own containers, in the quantities that you choose. WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT? Our approach is light touch with minimal intervention in the environment and prioritising nature. We are currently developing our site facilities and creating spaces for small groups and low impact events. These include bushcraft, forest school, wellbeing sessions, forest bathing, yoga, pilates, artist retreats etc. We’re already working with schools, charities, youth and arts groups. If you've got a small scale event, workshop or idea you'd like to make happen, we would love to hear from you. Just drop us a message on our contact page. NATURE Our ethos is very much one of balance, so for us plants and animals are as important as people. We are currently working with fantastic environmental advisors to establish what plants and animals are currently residing on our site. Our aim is to protect the habitats that already exist, create a comprehensive management plan and increase biodiversity where possible. It's all about the science! In common with most of the British Isles the land here has been managed by humans for hundreds of years - a mixture of farming, park land and old tree plantations. It’s not wild in the true sense of an untouched natural ecosystem but it’s a special place that has been left pretty much to itself for several decades. We’re just starting our long term project to create more detailed surveys of the flora and fauna, and are excited to meet and work with new people.
